Hello there!
Until recently, I had a chance to try only cooling lip glosses. Of course, I especially love them during the summer.
But in fall or winter, they aren’t the best option. However, warming up ones might be much better.
And this review is exactly about one of such products.
Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme. As far as I concerned, this product is a stronger version of the classy Lip Injection. The reviews of the last one are pretty negative while Extreme boasts with better ratings. I haven’t tested the classy version but according to the descriptions, they are rather similar. The difference is only whether you like peppermint lip glosses or not.
I’m not sure if they use peppermint extracts in here or not but when I apply the product, my lips tingle a lot. I have looked through the list of ingredients and haven’t found anything connected with peppermint. But, it was so pleasant to find avocado and jojoba oils at the beginning of the list.
One can barely say that the Too Faced design is strict or reserved. Here the product has its own features. Look at that pearlescent casting. At first, I used to think it was the lip gloss shining from within but no. It’s the plastic, the tube it’s made of.
By the way, if you’re not planning to use this product at least once a day, I’d like to recommend you to go for a deluxe sample then. You see, the shelf life of the product is just 12 months.
I know that deluxe samples are also available in stores two times cheaper than the full size. By the way, the full size costs $29.00.
I really doubt that I’d had ever buy it for myself. As for this one, I won it on Instagram. So, I’ll tell you my impressions of the use of this product and then show you the before and after shots.
The aroma is pleasant, sweet, however, I can feel some chemical notes to it too. They don’t annoy me but I guess some of you may find it repelling.
The lip gloss isn’t tacky. Consistency-wise it reminds me of the Carmex lip treatments. But this one is really long-wearing. Even when I wipe it off with a tissue, it still doesn’t remove fully. I have to rub my lips a lot.
The tingling effect is on for about from 10-15 minutes to 30 minutes. The product stays put for up to 2-3 hours. Somehow, the staying power is always different, maybe depends on my lip conditions. I always apply it on my clean lips. Sometimes I can see that they wear it on top of a lipstick. I wouldn’t dare to apply it with the featured applicator or else the formula will turn into a thick mess. One can use a disposable applicator. I wish this idea had crossed my mind earlier.
The plumping effect isn’t obvious. Maybe only you will see it. However, it does really perfect my lips and they look better. It feels like they were injected a little due to precise contours and a more vibrant color. I saw a lot of examples on the internet.
Excuse me for these photos but here are my lips before:
And that’s after:
The product also camouflages my small lip flaking and never shows it off. I like that my lips look natural, as though I just applied some lip gloss or a chapstick. Yet, the color is vibrant, which I find essential because I look sick with pale lips, no matter how much blusher I wear.
Here’s one more before picture:
And after under the lamp lights:
And one more not actually presentable photo within 3-4 hours of application and a bite. My lips still look good. They even have some small film of the product. It looks like oil or silicone. Maybe, this is that very mineral oil that ensures such a long life of it.
Instead of the bottom line, I’ll say: if you’re a fan of the brand and you love their makeup, go for this plumper. If you’re a poor student or you just don’t want to splurge, go for Carmex instead. It isn’t peppermint but cooling and the results from Carmex won’t be so obvious but the price is way cheaper.
I wish I tried the Too Faced Metal Lip Glosses one day. They seem to be much more interesting than this one. However, I’ve tested this Lip Injection and I can’t say anything negative about it.
