I’m more or less indifferent to very expensive cosmetic items (middle market, professional cosmetics and high end brands) but I fall for beautiful cosmetic products very easily. Too Faced DIAMOND Fire Highlighter is absolutely a gorgeous babe. Its design makes me really breathless. I was definitely in the heat of passion when I saw it online and quickly added it to the cart. Before it was even delivered, I had already changed my mind about it because I looked through a lot of reviews where the girls seemed to have blue cheeks, once they applied this highlighter on. But all in all it was too late for me to retreat. The highlighter was delivered within a week.
Design:
The first thing that you’ll see if you buy this product will be a rather bulky pink cardboard box.
There you’ll find the general product info, like the name of the brand, as well as the name of the highlighter itself.
The weight of the product is 12g. By the way, that’s a lot. Usually they release highlighters of 7g in a pack.
On the back side of the box you’ll find the list of ingredients, directions for use and some other additional info.
Ingredients:
Mica, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Squalane, Glycerin, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Polysorbate 20, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Chondrus Crlspus, Xanthan Gum, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Silica, Dicalcium Phosphate, Benzimidazole Diamond Amidoethyl Urea Carbamoyl Propyl Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Tin Oxide, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891).
By the way, the product doesn’t add any talc to its ingredients.
On the inside of the box, there’s a caption:
In this box you’ll find another box, which is more pleasant to the touch and it feels as though it’s made of leather even though it’s still cardboard material.
The box with the highlighter looks pretty big. I deem it’s a more vanity option, rather than a travel-friendly product. The design really reminds me of a ring box.
On the box there’s also a small button. It’s a fake and it doesn’t do anything here, just a small adornment. The top cap is magnetic and closes really tightly.
Again, there is a caption under the top lid, but here they placed the brand lettering. No mirror provided.
Highlighter:
And of course we need to discuss the highlighter itself. It’s diamond shaped and it has beautiful gem-cutting on the pan. The product is cool-toned. I can’t make out any scent to it.
Product says the following:
This one-of-a kind highlighter is infused with real crushed diamond powder and light reflecting pearls to create a rainbow diamond fire glow like you've never seen. Light up your complexion for a pure radiance that works on any skin tone. Swirl the pink, blue, and gold shades to create your custom highlighter that can be used anywhere. The liquid to powder formula is hand poured ensuring that no two highlighters will ever look the same--just like a real diamond.
It feels like the highlight is nicely pressed. It doesn't feel like it has any silky or buttery components to it. This is why it doesn’t dust during the application. Well, it dusts but not too much and only in case you pick it up with a very stiff and natural bristled brush.
There are no shimmer particles to the formula at all. The grain is fine, which is extremely pleasant for me.
If you take a very close look on the pan, you’ll see that there are different pigments here: pink, gold, blue, and green. In general you can pick up any pigment that you want, or you can swirl the brush over the entire highlighter and mix the pigments together.
If you mix the colors, you’ll see that the highlighter has cool undertones with a colorful glowing cast.
The color looks very delicate. And I really like this feature from the highlighter! Be careful and always try to apply the right amount of the product, then the result will look amazing.
It was very difficult to show you the color of the product on my face, because my camera doesn’t show it right.
The highlighter can accentuate your skin relief, this is why I don’t recommend it if you have enlarged pores or pimples in the areas where you usually apply your highlighter.
All in all, it’s a very beautiful highlighter which has amazing packaging. It has delicate and nicely milled shimmer, which can show your skin texture, alas.
The product is cool-toned and pretty fair. It won’t flatter dark skin tones for sure.
The price is $34. In my opinion the product is worth every cent.
If you’re like me and you adore beautiful-looking cosmetic products, then I can highly recommend this Too Faced Diamond Fire Highlighter.
