Urban Decay Double Team Special Effect Colored Mascara - review

Urban Decay has treated me with their products which are full of surprises. Here is a new product in the beauty world - the creative Urban Decay Double Team Colored Mascara. And of course after testing it out I want to tell you about my impressions of use of this product.

Like the name suggests, Double Team packs two shades in every tube, and comes in five must-have duos. Four of the duos feature a bold cream shade on one side and a matching metallic topcoat on the other. The other (Dime/Goldmine) has two metallic topcoats in one tube (silver and gold).

 

UD is taking the colored mascara trend to the next level with super-vivid colors and metallic finishes. With Double Team, you can make the look as subtle or as dramatic as you want. ► Outer look

The tube with the mascara was covered with a cardboard box, that had a gradient color from golden and silver, which are actually the color codes of the mascara itself.

On the box you'll find the brand’s name which is in black letters. They also placed some useful info there.

The tube (there are two of them in this case actually) is done in the silver-steel color. It’s such an original stone gray color.

It looks pretty stylish, by the way. And I can see that good quality materials were used as well. This is why I don’t think that the color or lettering will flake off over time.

The brush is classical here. It’s made of nylon. The shape is straight with straight-cut bristles.

The brush is convenient to use. It brings out the right amount of the mascara and there’s never any superfluous formula left. It was the first time when I hadn’t stained my upper lids with the mascara during application. I don’t know what’s the reason for that - maybe the brush is too convenient or maybe I’ve finally learned how to apply it neatly.

The scent of the product is there. And I have to tell you that it’s pretty pleasant. This is the first time when I see an eye makeup product that smells so divine. The aroma isn’t chasing or irritating, even if you have a sensitive nose. It reminds me of the smell of some expensive and high-end moisturizer.

The consistency is creamy, as a good mascara is supposed to have. It isn’t runny, which is so great that I don’t have to wait for the formula to become a tad thicker.

Spending. Oh, I guess it’ll be so minimal, that the product is sure to last years. The most important thing is not to let the formula dry down in the inside of the tube.

► Impressions of use

I guess you all understand that it’s impossible to wear this product on a daily basis. Unless each day is a high day or maybe you have to do it due to work. This mascara will be a must for a theme party, a photo-shoot or any other occasion where you’re supposed to wear creative makeup. It’ll be amazing to make accents on your eyes or brows with this mascara. And as for me, I always want to try out everything new and interesting. I don’t always have such an opportunity, because, you know, high-end cosmetics usually cost a fortune. I enjoyed this experiment. I agree that it looks pretty wild, unusual and cosmic - but such makeup will find a its place in your life for sure. Here I also want to show you the effect on my eyebrows at once.

It looks so funny, isn’t it? And I guess that if a professional makeup artist will work with it, then the product will look magnificent on a client.

I advise you to apply the mascara as a top coat on your lashes. You can have a look at the results in the collage photos.

► What things did I like about the mascara?

→ the product is fuss-free application-wise. It doesn’t stick my lashes together or make clumps over them.

→ It doesn’t stain my upper lids if I work neatly with it.

→ the shades look well-pigmented and not at all sheer. This is the true golden color and marvelous sparkling silver shade.

→ The mascara doesn’t flake off. This is one of the main things about it. I don’t want my under eye skin to shine bright like a diamond.

→ it looks a tad out of place on my eyebrows. But it’s so trendy nowadays to wear weird makeup, you know.

I can say that this mascara holds my eyebrow hairs well at place, creating the effect of bushy brows. At least, I can see it on my thin hairs.

→ you won’t smudge the formula, even if you get caught in the rain. The product is waterproof and it’s also a tricky task to wash it off. Use makeup removers. Maybe a micellar water will do the job, but you’ll have to rub your eyes a lot then. And of course it’ll damage your skin and eyelashes.

It’s better to use a cleansing oil, or particular waterproof eye makeup removers. I’ve run out of my micellar water and I had to use a peach oil and wash my skin with a face cleanser thoroughly after that. The product was removed completely.

► I can’t think of any drawbacks with this product.
