Hello there!
Today I’m bringing you my review of the NEW On The Run eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay in the Detour shade:
Nowadays, they all seem to be releasing huge eyeshadow palettes, which are totally travel-unfriendly.
But this palette seems to be a good smaller version of the Born To Run eyeshadow palette. Besides, it’s adorned with more interesting shades and textures!
Country of manufacturing - USA
Price - $25
Weight - 0.8g
Shelf life - 24 months
The paletted was covered with a box of black and white photos from traveling on its front side:
Those black and white pictures make me nostalgic about my vacation and the bright UD letters seem to be promising that the next vacation will be even brighter and more interesting.
I’m really happy having this palette of beige shades because there are my favorite colors included, added with blue and unusual transformer shades, which made the palette even more desirable!
Inside there was the palette itself:
I don’t know what inspired them but for me, it seems like these are trees in a dark forest, which is mysterious and dim. How do you find it? The back of the palette reveals the name of it - Detour.
The naming is rather strange and so true to life…
The palette itself is of a great quality. It’s pleasant to hold in my hands, look through and touch. There’s a good mirror inside of it, which I use all the time. Love!
The top lid of the palette closes with a safety magnet, so it doesn't ever feel like it pops open in my purse. Yet, it’s still pretty easy to open. I don’t have to break my nails, opening it each time. Respect, Urban Decay!
There were no brushes or sponges provided. Anyway, I always use my own tools, so it isn’t a downside for me.
Take some much-needed OOO (Out of Office) time and hit the road with On the Run, Urban Decay's trio of travel-ready mini palettes. Inspired by the Born to Run Palette, these minis are the perfect carry-on for your next getaway or last-minute trip. Each eight-pan palette is packed with curated mattes and metallics, including a transformer shade that can switch up your look or add a touch of icy shimmer. Just like UD's other palettes, On the Run contains our same mind-blowing formula that gives velvety texture, rich color payoff, and damn good blendability.
Head out on an unexpected adventure with Detour, which is loaded with sienna-hued neutrals, a deep metallic teal, and an unexpected holographic transformer shade.
The description is tantalizing! For me, this palette is not only a mini of the Born To Run palette but also a product that inspires me for new makeups. This is mainly because of the shades Switchback and 16th ST.
The palette consists of 8 shades, where:
- 4 are matte;
- 2 are shimmering;
- 1 is glittery-shimmering
- 1 transformer shade!
And now, let’s move onto the swatches!
THE UPPER ROW
1. Off The Grid - matte off-white shade, which is the fairest one in the palette (excluding the chameleon shade, which stands its own).
2. Dash - shimmering metallic. A really saturated gold shade. This is a true evening go out color. Awesome pigmentation + color payoff. Here you can see two shades at once Off The Grid and Dash.
3. Escape - matte warm beige. I use it all over my lids or for darkening the outer Vs.
4. Detour - this shade stands for the name of the entire palette. It’s a matte brown color, which was destined to be a creasing shade for outer Vs. It’s really packed with pigments and really deep.
THE LOWER ROW
5. 16th ST. - this is one of the most beautiful colors for me in this palette! A deeply-toned shimmering glitter shade, which is even creamy-like in consistency.
This is that very case when I can apply the dark shade all over my lids!
For instance like here:
It is a little bit darker than the golden Dash shade, which seems even pale yellow when I compare these two.
6. Confidential - the darkest shade in the palette. It’s an intense brown shade with a red undertone. It’s pleasant and creamy by touch!
7. Switchback - this is the MOST UNUSUAL shade in this palette! It’s such a gleaming fair duochrome shade of blue-green sheen. It appears fabulous alone and it can also transform your makeup into something out of this Universe!
It also seems interesting when I wear it solo:
8. Plunge - nicely pigmented blue shade. Oddly enough, it remains blue when I blend it out! No mud or troubles with it! Soft and silky by touch texture.
It can be also applied all over my eyes:
And if I add some Switchback shade, then I received this trendy makeup look!
UD guys always treat us with their super pigmented textures and high-quality products. These eyeshadows are very pleasant to apply, blend, yet they never lose their color payoff at all.
I applied all the swatches over my nude skin, without any primer, because we all have different primers, which can be deceitful.
The texture of the products is super nice. There are several textures in this palette: the mattes are silky and as though creamy, the shimmers are more likely to be cream-gel (at least it feels like that). Anyway, the products are unbelievably pleasant to use!
My eyelids are oily and hooded (what else is to be desired?) and even over my eyes, the products don’t crease or lose their pigmentation throughout the wear. I’ll tell you that most of my eyeshadow palettes don’t show such a good result on my eyes by the end of the working day.
I love this palette and I’ll definitely take it with me while traveling! For me, first of all, this is all about the unusual shades, which are still wearable, and about these dope colors of excellent quality!
Thank you all for your attention! Stay tuned!
