Hello all,
Today I’m reviewing the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief. Recently I received a few travel-sized packagings of this product and decided to try them out and then share my opinion with you.
General information about the product:
1.Price: $19 (30 ml) $39 (50 ml)
Made in Great Britain. Expiration within 24 months of opening.
My mini is of 15 ml and I found it in one of the beauty box samples.
2. Packaging. It’s a glass jar with a screw-on top. Initially there was a protecting membrane in it. All the needed information can be found on the box.
3. The texture is light and gel-like. The product is easy to spread on the skin and it also soaks in well and quickly. The gel-cream is of light-pinky color, unscented.
4.Ingredients:
water, cyclopentasiloxane, butylene glycol, glycerin, betula alba (birchh) bark extract, silybum marianum (lady's thistle) extract, camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract, saccharomyces lysate extract, sucrose, aloe barbadensis leaf water, trehalose, hydroxyethyl urea, thermus thermophallus ferment, sorbitol, oleth-10, tromethamine, caffeine, hydrogenated lecithin, sodium hyaluronate, tocopheryl acetate, palmitoyl oligopeptide, caprylyl glycol, dimethicone, glyceryl
5. Suits all skin types
6. Claims:
This refreshing, oil-free cream-gel is a "drink" for skin, continuously plumping its appearance with hydration. The luxurious, addictive texture and ultra-hydrating formula make it a frequent fliers’ favorite. It improves the appearance of fine lines, flakiness, and tightness, leaving skin looking and feeling happier and healthier—even through shifts in humidity. It immediately cools and refreshes for a soft, smooth complexion. It can be used as a five-minute moisture mask, or over makeup for a luminous glow.
7. This product can be used in the morning and in the evening as the main source of moisture, as well as in addition to your nourishing cream.
My impressions and the result:
About me: 29 yo. My skin is prone to dryness, dehydrated and flaking in winters. There are also fine lines. As for summer, my skin is rather normal.
Since the product promises intensive moisture and hydration, I decided to use it during fall/winter season. Before that I knew only about the 3 step system by this brand, which I wasn’t impressed by at all.
Application: Thanks to its lightweight texture, the product is easy to spread and apply. It doesn’t roll up and works well as a foundation primer. There’s no greasy film after. The product sinks in immediately and I don’t feel it on my skin at all.
Result. This moisture surge gel-cream wasn’t enough for my skin in terms of moisture. Each time I applied it onto my skin, I had the impression that it wasn’t enough for me. This product isn't suitable for the fall/winter season for dry skin, let alone dehydrated skin! The product lacks moisture. It’ll suit only oily skin, I think. This gel-cream doesn’t clogs pores, it mattifies, soothes and works well a primer. I also tried to apply it during the day, as the manufacturer advises but the situation wasn’t saved: I still had flaking and a tightening feeling.
What season will this product be good for? I don’t recommend it to those whose skin is dry during fall or winter, as moisture is too weak. But this gel-cream will be good for summer I guess, when we all want lightweight textures and fresh feelings.
Pros which I found for myself:
- lightweight texture
- unscented
- soothes and evens my skin tone
- no allergy, rash or clogged pores
- suits my sensitive skin
Cons:
- doesn't suit dry and dehydrated skin type
- doesn’t suit for fall or winter season as lacks moisture
- doesn’t go a long way
- no lasting effect even after a sequel application
But still I recommend to give Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief a go. Probably this product will become a Holy Grail for those with oily or combination skin type. But for me I find this cream-gel not enough for proper hydration.
Thanks for your attention to my review!
