I’ve been pondering over the purchase of this cream-gel for a long time. Thanks to many positive reviews I thought I really needed it, but I doubted still, and that’s because of my skin type.

My skin is rather combination, with occasional breakouts. In winter, my cheeks, nose and forehead are dry, and I’m looking for a cream which would give me deep moisture. In summer, however, I am on the lookout for something more mattifying, since my skin becomes extremely oily when it’s hot.

So, moved by so many rave reviews, I went out to the local cosmetic store to investigate more about this cream. There were probe samples of it and I loved the formula.

I applied the cream gel onto my hand and forgot about it till the evening when I came back home and washed my hands. That’s when I could appreciate the moisturizing effect the cream provides, since the skin on my hand was gentle and well-maintained.

So I returned to the store to buy the treasured jar of the cream which I thought to be perfect back then. But it turned out to be far from miraculous. So let me tell you about my experience with it.

My review:

The cream gel is available in 30 ml and 50 ml.

The latter one is more advantageous.

I have the little jar with 30 ml.

The outer box is pale olive, with all the necessary product information on it.According to it, the cream gel is supposed to suit all skin types. The lovely jar is found inside of the box.

It looks really expensive. I love the design: the glass jar, through which we can see the lovely cream, and the heavy lid which looks classy.

Also, some product information can be found on the jar itself:

There was a protective lid that used to stick to the main lid and I had to move it back each time.

First of all, this cream gel should have a spatula. I hate dipping my fingers into the jar, plus it’s so unhygienic.

It’s quite a big disadvantage for me.

Color:

The color of the cream gel is pink like cotton candy.

The scent is kinda weird. I can’t say the cream gel smells pleasant. It’s fresh and at the same time unnatural, like a mix of alcohol and plastic. I’m glad the fragrance is barely perceptible.

Formula:

Awesome! The formula is lightweight and gel-like, and so ductile!

The cream gel spreads easily, gliding over my skin and leaving smoothness behind. It soaks in instantly, unless you overdo it.

My impressions:

First I use a face lotion, then this cream gel.

  • I take like half of a pea-sized amount of the cream, and it’s enough for the whole face.
  • The gel applies and spreads easily.
  • The cream gel makes my skin instantly smoother and hides dry spots, if there are any, and then eliminates them completely.
  • The product creates a thin film on the skin, making it soft and smooth. The skin doesn’t feel naked, and I want to touch it over and over again.
  • After application, the cream gel soaks in in a heartbeat, leaving nothing but this very film behind.
  • It’s work wonders as a makeup base.
  • The moisturizing effect was great, the skin feels moisturized all day long.

At first I wondered whether it would provide enough moisture in winter or not. Some reviewers said it would, some it wouldn’t. Anyway, I thought that in case of the lack of moisture I would simply add a serum. But I didn’t have to.

Well, for my skin type the moisturizing effect was just enough. It eliminated all the dryness I had.

I was more than 100 percent satisfied and believed to have found the perfect face treatment which I would re-purchase again and again. But my happiness didn’t last long - in a week and a half I started noticing blind pimples on my chin. I decided to stop applying the cream onto that area, but went on using it on the rest on my face. In a week, my forehead and cheeks were covered with painful blind pimples and acne as well.

To say that I was horrified would be an understatement.

I choose my face care products carefully, and I was totally disappointed with this Clinique cream gel.

I was looking for a lightweight cream gel, but this one clogged my pores awfully! I think it’s inexcusable for a cream which claims to be suitable for all skin types!

Composition:

I don’t think I’ll surprise you by giving this cream gel 1 star! It doesn’t deserve a higher rating! I wish I could give it zero stars, because I had to treat clogged pores and pimples for more than a month!

I can only recommend the gel for those with problem free dry skin. Girls with oily and problem skin - this is not for you.

Will I repurchase it?

Do I look like a masochist? Definitely not.
