Today I’m reviewing the Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Creme SPF 15. Before that I had a full sized jar with this cream, but ran out and went to the store to repurchase. But I was attracted by this set and decided to pick this one up with a travel-sized packaging of the DayWear cream.
My mini is 15ml. I’ve been using it for 3 months and there’s still a half the jar left.
The first disadvantage about this product is its price tag. 50ml jar costs $54. I understand that it’ll go for more than a year but still I’m not ready to splurge on it.
Expiration date: 24 months
The cream suits normal and combination skin types. I opted for this cream because of its ingredients and Estee Lauder brand name, of course.
The next disadvantage is the packaging. The cream is packed in a usual screw jar. It’s absolutely impractical, since the wholesome ingredients break down in the presence of air and there will be none of them left within 1-3 months! So the shelf life of the product is no longer than 3 months. After this time the cream will be just a usual cream with SPF included.
The third disadvantage is the texture. It’s very thick and greasy with a green-ish cast and herbal scent. The cream sinks fully within 10 minutes, leaving my face sticky yet velvety.

The greatest disadvantage connected with this product is the oily shine after application. This shine makes all my imperfections visible like enlarged pores and fine lines.
My skin is dry and usually it “devours” even the thickest and most nourishing creams. But it can do nothing with this one.
And now, let me list the advantages of the product.
A very good list of ingredients:

The SPF is provided thanks to the two ingredients Octisalate and Avobenzone. Then there are silicones (11 of them!), plant extracts, anti-oxidants, and fatty alcohol.
A reference about anti-oxidants:
Antioxidants play an important lifeline role in superior face and skin aging products. Antioxidants are natural substances made up of vitamins and minerals. They can counter “free radicals” that damage DNA, lipids and proteins. Damaged skin cells can speed up aging with wrinkles, dry skin, dark circles under the eyes, dull skin, decrease elasticity and pliability.
No alcohol in the ingredients, that’s a plus. But there are some fragrance agents and colourants.
My verdict:
If you want to put all the positives and negatives together, then we’ll have the following.
The Positives:
1. Good list of ingredients with a lot of wholesome ingredients. But, they’ll break down because of the poorly thought packaging and the cream will be just a silicone based SPF substance.
2. SPF. But, since I apply my make-up over this cream, the SPF loses it properties and stops working. That’s not at all good for summertime.
3. The product goes a long way
4. It works good as a face primer. Nothing travels down or creases. It’s a perfect make-up base.
The Negatives:
1. The packaging that doesn’t preserve wholesome ingredients.
2. Price tag. That’s too much for a day cream, I think.
3. Oily shine all over my face
4. Very heavy texture. It feels like my skin doesn’t breathe underneath this product.
5. It takes too long to sink in.
So, considering all that’s been said above, I won’t recommend buying this cream. But still if you are eager to give this popular product a go, then buy a mini sized jar to use it up before all the good ingredients will get rotten there. And it’ll be better to use in winter, since the heavy texture will protect your skin from cold and SPF will protect you from the sun damage. And if you really want to be protected from the sun then never do your make-up over this product. Or just use some powder and that’s all.
So, not counting the price tag, I’ll give this product 3 stars, as you can find a way to use it.
