I’ve learnt about the Japanese Kose brand and this hydrophilic oil in particular after testing a Japanese beauty box. There was an abundance of various skin care products, including this makeup remover.
Kose SOFTYMO Speedy Cleansing Oil is available in 2 versions: a full-size bottle with a pump and 230 ml of the product and a replacement bottle in a plastic bag with 200 ml. If you’ve used up this product, you can save the bottle with a pump and buy a replacement, which would be cheaper.
I have a mini-size product with 60 ml. I don’t know if it’s available now, but this version is very handy for testing.
The bottle has a flip top, which is very useful too.
It gives a very small amount of the product, so it doesn’t flow or smear the cap or the bottle itself.
I’ve already used cleansing oils with such a cap before and they were absolutely different. This one is the best.
To show you how it works, I’ve picked up 3 drops of the product. Yep, it comes out in drops.
The oil is absolutely colorless. Moreover, it’s fragrance-free.
The texture is more like... viscous. It’s neither thick nor watery.
The main thing about hydrophilic or cleansing oil is that it removes stubborn makeup and all the skin impurities better than watery-based makeup removers. To wash off this cleansing oil with all the impurities, you just use water.
When in contact with water, the cleansing oil transforms into a lightweight emulsion that removes from my skin with ease without leaving any oily film.
A full transformation from oil into an emulsion means that this product won’t clog your pores, but eliminate all the impurities very well.
Kose cleansing oil doesn’t only clean my skin, but also moisturizes and softens it. After washing I feel like my skin is breathing.
However, a cleansing oil is only the first step in Japanese washing system. The next step is cleansing foam used with a specific foaming net.
