Hi there,
How could we live without micellar waters earlier? I used to torture my eyelids every day in order to remove long-lasting mascaras, eyeliners and eyebrow pencils. I lathered the cleansing gel and ruthlessly rubbed my eyes till my makeup succumbed. As a result I used to have squeaky clean, but utterly dry and irritated red skin. Moreover, I got premature under eye wrinkles because of all this.
When micellar water appeared in our local stores, I was skeptical about it, because I couldn’t believe that the product helps remove makeup with ease.
However, I took the chance and purchased it one day. Well, my life has changed for good since then. Now I always have micellar water in my bathroom and use it almost every day.
As a big fan of micellar waters I couldn’t help trying a new version of La Roche-Posay Effaclar Micellar Water Ultra for oily and problem skin.
Let’s get it started!
The product comes in a nice light blue plastic bottle.
It is available in two versions:
200 ml for about $15
400 ml for $20
The micellar water has a flip cap, which works just fine and gives the right amount of the product. The cap closes securely and doesn't flow, so the bottle is safe for trips.
Ingredients:
The consistency and shade remind me of a common water. It is neither sticky nor oily and distributes on the skin easily.
The smell is very nice, fresh and floral.
As far as I know, the manufacturer has upgraded the whole range of their micellar waters.
I have combination to oily skin prone to breakouts, so I’ve picked up the corresponding product for oily and problem skin. The manufacturer states that the product both cleanses and mattifies the skin. And it is true. This micellar water does make my skin matte without drying it out. However, the effect doesn’t last for a long time.
On the plus side, the Ultra version refreshes my skin very well and cleanses my pores from foundation.
In terms of the eye makeup removal, I doubted it for quite some time. I thought that the water designed for oily skin would irritate and tingle my eyes. To be honest, I haven’t noticed anything of the kind. My skin and eyes feel really comfortable.
Now I’m going to show you how this product removes a long-lasting makeup, i.e matte lipstick, gel eye- and lip pencil, creamy eyeshadows, gel eyeliner, eyebrow pomade and concealer. I’ve applied them on my hand and waited till they were completely dry.
After the first try:
After the second try:
The result is great taking into account that I’ve applied thick coats of the products.
Yeah, I agree that swatches on the hands do not prove anything given that the face has hard-to-get and uneven areas. Therefore I’ve decided to show how Effaclar Ultra works with real makeup.
I’m very pleased with the results! My skin is clean, fresh and neither taut nor dry.
I’m so excited about the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Micellar Water Ultra. It does what it says perfectly. Highly recommended!
Thank you for your attention!
