Hi everyone!
I love L'oreal Paris and I always check what new products they release, but I don’t usually buy everything they drop. However, it’s different with the scrub under review.
L'oreal Paris has announced their new Smooth Sugars skincare range quite a long time ago. Since then I knew that I wouldn’t be able to resist the temptation and buy at least one of the scrubs.
And I was right. I couldn’t help but purchase this scrub. It’s been a month since I treated myself with this delicious product.
Meet the L'oreal Paris Smooth Sugars Clear Scrub Purifies, Lift Blackheads!
Currently the range is available in three options:
I grabbed the latter option. It was to match my skin type perfectly. In addition, I was sold on kiwi… Yeah, I was hooked
PRODUCT INFORMATION
Price: somewhere about $10-14
I can’t even remember the day I last used abrasive facial scrubs, because I prefer using peels. And here we have even a SUGAR scrub… I used a sugar scrub just once and it was the L'oreal Sublime Glow Scrub, by the way. However, it was a really long time ago. So, I was particularly excited to try it out.
What is special about this scrub?
Well, first it is really reminiscent of kiwi or probably a kiwi jam or puree. However, it’s not the only peculiarity it has. The exfoliating particles are natural here.
Moreover, it is suitable not only for the skin, but also for the lips!
PACKAGING
The packaging is so respectable! I was amazed and sold on it in the first place. Initially the product was wrapped in a paper package with a protective film. The design is divine and it’s pink and green. Also, there is a see-through window, where you can see the jar with the scrub. Inside you can find some protective paper that protects the jar. The scrub itself comes in a bulky and transparent glass jar.
It comes with a twist top lid. Underneath there is also a reusable inner lid that is meant to protect the scrub from spilling. In my book, it’s a nice package.
No pump or spatula are included, so we should dip into it with our fingers to get the product.
Also, you can read all the necessary information on the package.
THE CLAIMS
BENEFITS
SMOOTH SUGARS CLEAR SCRUB
For the first time, the L’Oreal Paris Laboratories have selected 3 FINE SUGARS and combined them with KIWI SEEDS so you can instantly reveal pure, freshly clean, baby-soft skin. Use on face & lips.
INSTANT AND LONG-TERM, VISIBLE RESULTS:
IMMEDIATELY: Skin is clean and purified.
AFTER 1 WEEK: Pores & blackheads are visibly reduced and skin is mattified.
USE AFTER USE: Skin is smoother, revived and healthy-looking with a baby-soft touch.
OUTER APPEARANCE
♥ Texture
The scrub reminds me visually of a kiwi puree. It has a buttery and not powdery texture. The scrub is viscous, dense and moderately oily. Plus, it’s medium-sturdy.
The sugar included in the ingredients is not harsh by itself. It’s not like a normal sugar we got used to, this one is very finely milled.
So, rest assured, the scrubbing particles won’t scratch your skin.
What are these black dots in the texture?
These are real kiwi seeds that do not dissolve under the streaming water or by massaging.
The texture of the scrub
♥ Color
The scrub looks intensely green in the jar. Loreal obviously decided to convey the real kiwi puree look. It’s such a genius marketing ploy that worked, I have to admit.
However, it doesn’t look so intense and luscious on my skin. The scrub has just a slight hint of green right after applying on my dry skin. When I distribute it thoroughly, the coverage becomes sheer and reminds me of a vicious sugar syrup.
The texture after spreading out
♥ Scent
Oh, it’s amazing! The scrub smells fruity and sweet, but I wouldn’t call it kiwi. Nevertheless, it’s yummy and that’s a fact. I can clearly feel it while exfoliating, which is really enjoyable.

MY SKIN
I have combination skin type that is oily in my T-zone and normal in other areas. More than that, I have enlarged pores, blackheads, occasional breakouts and surely acne spots after that.
THE USE AND MY IMPRESSIONS
Apply a small amount of SMOOTH SUGARS CLEAR SCRUB with dry fingers on clean, dry skin. Add warm water and gently massage over your FACE in circular motions avoiding the eye area. Once sugars have melted, rinse with warm water. Use 3 times a week.
Also works on LIPS to smooth and refine the lip line, improving the wear of lipstick and lip gloss.
Do not ingest. Keep away from children. If in contact with eyes, rinse them immediately and thoroughly.
♥ Application to my face.
► I’ve been using the product for my face two or three times a week. I applied it to my clean skin after washing with a cleansing foam. A little is all you need to exfoliate your skin.
The manufacturer recommends applying it to dry skin and this is how I do it.
The only thing is that I damp my hands prior to the application. This way it’s easy to pick up and spread out the scrub on my skin. It applies like a dream without flowing, crumbling or falling off.
Applied to my skin
After distributing, I add some water and massage my skin. The massaging is such an enjoyable process.
The exfoliating particles don’t scratch my skin. What is curious is that it does really ensure some heating sensations as advertised. When the particles melt away, these sensations gradually disappear.
I have to note that this is actually a traditional scrub with a lot of abrasive particles. So, it may not be suitable for everyone. However, you can control the use to achieve best results.
I mean you can damp your hands and your face or leave them dry as you wish. This sugar scrub is alright with it. The product gradually melts away under water.
Immediately after applying/After I spread it out
So, I massage my skin till the moment the sugar beads dissolve or get syrupy on my face. Meanwhile I damp my hands with warm water if required.
What I don’t like about it:
I don’t like the black kiwi seeds because they are really harsh. They neither melt nor go anywhere, which is understandable, because they are natural. Thank God there are not much of them when I apply them to my face. This scrub is designed for all skin types, but I don’t recommend it for sensitive skin due to these seeds.
The product removes with ease without leaving any stickiness.
► What do we have after exfoliation?
My skin feels perfectly polished and airbrushed, if I may say so.
My face is extremely soft and silky smooth by touch. My skin tone is more even and matte, so no oily sheen.
The scrub removes impurities amazingly well, but my blackheads are still there.
Pores? They are a little bit more narrow after use. But honestly, I didn’t expect it. It’s a traditional facial scrub and not a mask after all.
It doesn’t leave any oily film, even though the texture feels a little bit oily.
My skin is neither taut nor dry, but I still prefer moisturizing it after use.
Before/After
As for the long-term results, I can’t say anything about it.
Yes, the scrub cleanses my skin really well and reduces the chance to see new blackheads on my face, but it doesn’t work any magic. It won’t visually shrink your pores or eliminate blackheads in just a blink.
♥ Application to my lips.
This product turned out to be quite multipurpose. It’s perfect for our gentle lips too. By the way, it’s really convenient to exfoliate the face and lips simultaneously.
The scrub performs here really well too. It applies evenly and removes flakey bits perfectly. After use my lips are smooth and good-looking.
By the way, the taste of the scrub is very nice and sweet, when it accidentally gets into my mouth. It’s no surprise, because it’s a sugar scrub after all.
Before/in process/after
♥ A little goes a long way?
The product doesn’t go so far, but it’s OK still.
It runs low in about 2 or 2 and a half months, but it depends on how often you use it.

Under the bottom line:
✔ One-of-a-kind scrub
✔ Has an amazing scent
✔ Neither harsh nor too gentle
✔ Removes impurities really well
✔ Makes my skin silky smooth, matte and soft
✔ Shrinks my pores a little bit
✔ Suitable for lips
✔ The kiwi seeds are a tad too harsh
✔ No long-terms results
I’ve been writing this review for quite a while now and I constantly doubt how many stars to give this scrub. I hesitated and wanted to give it either 4 or 5. Cons? Yeah, I could get picky and say that the claims are not completely true or that the kiwi seeds are too harsh for my skin, but honestly, I don’t want to be picky about anything, because I loved this product!
I’m totally pleased with the packaging and results! All in all, I think it’s great stuff!
I definitely recommend you try this scrub, if your expectations coincide with reality I described above.
You should only be careful if you have sensitive skin.
As for me, I’ll definitely test the other two scrubs of the range.
P.S. Thanks for stopping by!
