Hey!
I’d like to share my thoughts on the popular The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2% Serum.
The brand is famous with beauty-bloggers and those who love analyzing the ingredients and knowing what they apply to their faces. The secret of their popularity lies in effective formulas and affordable prices ($8-15 for a bottle.)
By the way, the packaging is minimalistic and very convenient to use. You can know the percentage of the active ingredients from the bottle:
What the manufacturer says about it:
Lactic Acid is an alpha hydroxyl acid that exfoliates the skin. This 10% formulation offers mild exfoliation and is supported with a purified Tasmanian pepperberry known to reduce signs of inflammation and sensitivity that is often associated with exfoliation.
This formula contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time.
The aim of the product:
It has to moisturize and gently exfoliate my skin.
Ingredients:
The amount of the acids given in this product is necessary for moisturizing our skin. The exfoliation is very soft, gentle and hardly noticeable. Anyway, the product didn’t cause anything bad on my oily skin.
It’s noteworthy to add that the bottle is very handy and has a dropper that picks up the product really well:
The serum is a transparent liquid gel with a slight acid smell. It distributes on my skin with ease, but I feel a thin film on my face after application. I apply it to my face and neck:
A single drop on my hand
Distributed
The manufacturer recommends using this product at nights and that is exactly what I was doing at first. However, my oily and porous skin didn’t like it. I felt really uncomfortable, because I applied a cream first and then this serum that was leaving a film, so I felt both the cream and serum on me… Nevertheless, the serum didn’t cause any pimples on my skin, so I had no complaints about using except for the mask-like feeling.
Once I read a review of a beauty blogger about this product and she said that there is no use leaving acid serums on skin overnight, because our skin tries to restore the natural pH balance overnight. So, she recommends washing such products off in 30-60 minutes after application.
The acids perform well during this time, so after that we actually sleep with our exfoliated skin cells the whole night, which is useless.
And she was right! This method turned out to be very effective for me!
I have oily skin, so it’s better to apply skin care before going to sleep, but I always want to remove my makeup earlier. Therefore I prefer washing off my makeup in the evening. After that I apply the serum and after a while I wash it off and use my usual night care! As a result, the night skin care products I use absorb much better and my skin feels more comfortable!
Performance:
It does a really good job for my skin!
The serum moisturizes my skin perfectly and restores it faster by daily use. My skin gets even and healthy. It’s kind of a slight peeling effect! The product doesn’t have a negative impact on my rosacea, which I have on my cheeks and wings of my nose!
I’ve already ordered a second bottle. The first one lasted 3 months by daily use for me!
Definitely recommended! It’s a decent moisturizing and exfoliating product!
