In this review I’m gonna tell you about my experience with purple and turquoise colors from Manic Panic Amplified. I’ll also tell you which colors really last, and which I would never re-purchase again.

It’s a vegan semi-permanent hair dye, not tested on animals.

Price: about $14

I need a whole jar to dye my hair. The dye can be mixed with a hair conditioner, but it makes the result less vibrant, so I don’t do this.

The dye is pretty runny, the smell isn’t overwhelming. The bottles:

The hair dye must be applied onto bleached hair, otherwise the chances of getting a beautiful result are dwindling to zero. On dark hair you can only get a barely visible muted color. So it’s just a waste of money.

The hair dye is easy to use. I spread it on my hair with a special brush and then massage it with my hands and comb my hair through.

Use gloves, otherwise you’ll get dyed hands. The hair dye is easy to remove from the skin with alcohol or oil.

Cover your clothes or wear any old stuff that you don’t mind staining. Use an old towel, because wet hair will leave stains on anything it touches. The same goes for pillow cases.

I let it sit for a half an hour, and then I wash it off without shampoo. No need to use any hair conditioner, because the hair dye works like hair conditioner itself. Plus, the water you wash it off must be cool, because warm water makes hair dye wash out quickly.

How to achieve a vibrant color on the hair previously dyed with henna?

That wasn’t simple. At first, I had to bleach my hair.

Now about the colors I’ve tried. Let me begin with the worst one.

So, Ultra Violet didn’t last on my hair at all. It stained my curling iron and pillowcases, and it disappeared even before I had a chance to wash my hair for the first time. I love the color and it’s such a shame that it let me down!

I didn’t like the color Deep Purple Dream, that’s why I decided to mix it with Atomic Turquoise. So I got an interesting blue color with turquoise undertone. It was kind of unexpected but cool.

This mix wasn’t durable, but it lasted longer than Ultra Violet.

After that, I tried out Siren’s Song, and it turned to be my favorite!

I used the color Mermaid only with Siren’s song in order to get a turquoise gradient color, but it ended up being almost homogenous, because these colors are pretty similar.

On the twentieth day (that’s how the mix of colors was washing out)

And the last color Atomic Turquoise (it looks so much like Siren’s Song on my hair due to the yellowish natural color). I used this color and Ultra Violet to dye my hair ends and create a gradient

The blue color washed out pretty quickly, I don’t have much luck with blue and purple colors.

I’ve also tried out the pastel color Electric Amethyst, but there’s nothing to show you, it simply didn’t dye my hair.

I also would like to note that I bleach my bangs and the lower part of my hair on the back side more often than the other parts of my hair, but I haven’t noticed that purple dye lasts on them. However, the colors last longer on the most bleached strands (those that are almost breaking off).

Conclusion:

  • The dye must be used on bleached or naturally blond hair
  • The dye stains everything around, like many other semi permanents dyes do.
  • Purple and blue colors don’t last on my hair (that’s why I took a star off), and turquiose colors turn green which is hard to get rid of. I don’t need to remove it, though.
  • Purple colors last only on extremely bleached strands.
  • It makes my hair soft like after a good hair conditioner.
  • Prepare that while you dye your hair, you may also dye many other things like towels, pillowcases and other things you touch with freshly dyed hair Smile
  • Sometimes the result might be unpredictable.
  • The hair dye doesn’t wash out evenly.

I wanted a fresh pink color without hair damage, so I bought this bottle and decided to have my hair bleached first. I didn’t want to become blonde because I knew that it would destroy my hair. This is what I got: After that, we applied this hair dye and let it sit for a while.
