Pros: cute packaging, it isn’t detectable, it’s rather longwearing, natural finish
Cons: it may leak out of the packaging

The most important thing about my makeup for me is a foundation. I’ve been hooked on the Double Wear Stay-In-Place foundation from Estee Lauder for so long, that I became fed up with it and needed to give a try to something new. At that time I somehow saw a review of this Benefit Hello Happy foundation. I immediately wanted to test it out and cheated on my trustee by Estee.

A few words from the manufacturer:

Hello YOU! This lightweight foundation evens out skin tone and blurs imperfections with soft-focus optical blurring spheres. With a natural-matte finish and light-to-medium coverage, it looks like skin and feels like nothing at all. Happy looks good on you!

  • 99% said it feels weightless*

  • 98% said it feels breathable*

  • 96% said it blurs imperfections*

  • 95% said it gives natural-looking coverage*

Design:

The very first thing that catches your eye about this product is its cutest design.

Such a small plastic tube, which is color-coded with the shade of the foundation inside. The top cap is pearl-pink and glossy. And the most attractive thing here is that very smile printed with the hearted eyes. Isn’t that charming?

Honestly, the design is dope, yet still, it doesn’t look expensive. And I also can be picky about the packaging itself. First of all, it’s impossible to control the amount of the liquid left inside and one can easily end up having no foundation at all in one morning.

The second thing that freaks me out is that inconvenient silicone nozzle dispenser. I wish the maker protected it with a membrane because I just didn’t have time to use a product when it already leaked out, staining the top and the tube as well.

Make sure to store the product vertically, so as to avoid accidental leaking.

General characteristics of the Hello Happy foundation:

I opted for the shade 3.

It adjusts to my skin tone, even though it initially looks too dark
It adjusts to my skin tone, even though it initially looks too dark

It’s such a warm-toned, beige foundation.

It’s a perfection for a slightly sun-kissed skin.

The consistency is a tad runny. The aroma is pleasant and barely detectable.

My skin is mixed. What did I expect to get from this foundation after reading through its promises and action:

  • lightweight coverage

  • SPF

  • smooth skin tone

  • even relief

  • natural-looking, semi-matte finish

And this is what I actually received:

The BEFORE shot:

my nude skin, only with a moisturizer on
my nude skin, only with a moisturizer on

The AFTER shot:

right after the application (yes, my hair is wet)
right after the application (yes, my hair is wet)

I apply this foundation with my sponge because it guarantees the most natural-looking finish. As I’ve already said, the texture here is really light and runny. Such textures are usually fuss-free application- and blending-wise.

The coverage is lightweight and semi-sheer. So, one shouldn’t expect a good coverage of skin blemishes. The thing is that this Hello Happy foundation won’t be able to camouflage acne and other visible skin woes. But you can also try to apply this foundation with your fingers. If so, the coverage might be thicker and more concealing. However, it’ll deprive the product of its main feature, which is ultra-lightweight coverage.

I don’t detect this product over my skin. It doesn’t make me shine with oil or have clogged pores.

I appreciate that it’s wear-proof, for instance, it doesn’t stain my mobile screen. I opted for the shade #3 because I looked through a lot of swatches on the internet. And this shade is an absolute hit for me. But still, I think that if I made a mistake and opted for some other shade from the line, it would still be okay, due to the semi-sheer coverage and adjusting finish. The staying power is solid, I can apply it in the morning and forget about it for 6 hours minimum. The product doesn’t travel, oxidize or anything. The only issue might be an oily shine that can appear some time later after the application. But it’s so easy to touch-up, especially with the BeautyBlender Blotterazzi sponges.

I have detected two drawbacks about this foundation for me:

  • Inconvenient packaging! It’s horrible. This nozzle dispenser always pours out more than I need to use. The product can leak, so I have to store it vertically only.

  • It conceals only minor skin blemishes. Well, that’s subjective, because the coverage was promised to be lightweight anyway. I just can warn all the problematic skin owners from this product, because it’ll never hide any acne or reddening spots. I can’t use it on a daily basis because there are some days when I need better coverage from my foundation.

In a nutshell:

I was really happy to meet this Hello Happy foundation. I appreciate the way it adjusts to my skin tone and from afar one will never tell that there’s some foundation on my skin. So cool! Soft, semi-matte finish that appears really natural and my skin remains hydrated and soft.

Despite some disadvantages with this Hello Happy foundation from Benefit, I still can recommend it for purchasing! However, I’ll have to turn back to my go-to Double wear Stay-in-place foundation, once I use this one up.
