I love all makeup from Benefit. I especially appreciate their Porefessional Pearl Primer. Currently, I’m on a lookout for a good foundation for the summer times. I want it to be lightweight and airy. At that time, one of my favorite ones is the BB Cream from Erborian.

Recently, I saw a trial size pack of this foundation Benefit Hello Happy in one of the stores.

I have to tell you that I’m so pissed off when I have to splurge for makeup products with sounding promises, which eventually end up being crap. So, trial sizes are life savers for me indeed. They make it possible to test out a product without splurging a fortune and even if I don’t like the product, I won’t feel sorry for the spent money.

Benefit Hello Happy - is a lightweight foundation.

Product says:

Hello YOU! This lightweight foundation evens out skin tone and blurs imperfections with soft-focus optical blurring spheres. With a natural-matte finish and light-to-medium coverage, it looks like skin and feels like nothing at all. Happy looks good on you!

  • 99% said it feels weightless*

  • 98% said it feels breathable*

  • 96% said it blurs imperfections*

  • 95% said it gives natural-looking coverage*

Outer appearance: it’s a plastic tube with a glossy pink top cap and a cute smiling face on it, which is definitely here to steal your attention from the cheap plastic tube.

The dispenser here is a small silicone nozzle. It’s isn’t handy to use because each time I open it, the product comes out uncontrollably, staining everything around (FYI, I wiped off the nozzle before taking the pictures).

I needed a foundation for the summer for my tanned skin so I picked up the shade #4 Medium Beige.

It’s a warm-toned and a really dark shade.

Use:

My skin is dry and flaking a lot.

Even though the texture of the foundation is runny, it’s still hard to use. I don’t use any tools for my foundation application because my skin flakes off even more then, so I use just my fingertips.

It’s a real trouble to apply this over my skin. You see, it clumps and applies in patches.

The product doesn’t want to sit well even if I moisturize and prep my skin well beforehand. It defines all the flaking skin bits. It settles into my skin crevices and stays there, forming an ugly spot on my face which I can never blend out at all.

This foundation doesn’t cover any of my blemishes.

Well, I get that it’s ultra-lightweight but it doesn’t even smooth out my complexion after all. The coverage looks so patchy. There’s no natural finish from it ever. I can detect it on my skin as well as all the defined skin blemishes. This time it settled so much that it turned me into an old lady.

Hello Happy foundation really dries out my skin and I can feel how tightened my skin is. I really struggle a desire to wash it off immediately. And when I actually do, my skin still feels a little tight for some time.

I’ll cite the picture of my skin after application because it can really break your nerves down. By the way, before foundation application here, I prepped my skin and used an exfoliator and a good moisturizer on top.

Unfortunately, my camera doesn’t translate all the “beauty” of the mess on my skin.

As you can see, it can’t do anything even about my dark under-eye circles.

And now a close-up:

What it that? Is it a wrinkle?Thank you, Hello Happy, I’ve never had it before.

Overall thoughts:

This product will never work with dry skin and even your preliminary skincare routine like masks/exfoliators/moisturizers/primers will never be game-changing here.

I still don’t say that the product is awful and doesn’t flatter anyone.

It doesn’t go well with my skin.

My review is subjective and is based on the experience over the dry skin type only.

- It doesn’t conceal or cover any of my skin blemishes

- It does dry out my skin

- It shows off my skin blemishes

- It never looks natural over my skin

I bought a mini of it and still, I regret doing it. But on the other hand, I’m so glad that I hadn’t purchased the full-sized pack. Otherwise, I’d have wasted $29.
