HEY!
CLINIQUE POP LIP SHADOW CUSHION MATTE LIP POWDER.
I saw it from a beauty blogger and understood that it was exactly what I needed! I know the Clinique brand and their products are always of good quality and pleasant for my skin. I’ve never had to suffer any negative reactions like allergies, which is one of the most important factors for me.
And I decided to try this product out. The shades seemed to be alluring and they didn’t look so dead matte like Kylie’s lipsticks or those ones from Lime Crime (They are like paint for my lips indeed, they’re so awful to wash off then).
Plus, it was Black Friday and a discount was huge.
The first thing that I liked was the unusual form of the product. You see, you have to dip the stick with pigments. It works like a cushion. The tip looks like a small sponge, which is used to dab and apply the product onto the lips.
It’ll be advantageous for those who can’t apply lipstick inside lines or simply don’t have enough time to do so.
The second thing is the application.
The texture is so weightless that I even forget that I'm wearing something on my lips within a couple of minutes. So pleasant and light, no film or residue on my lips at all. They become so soft and pleasant by touch. No problems with washing off and it’s so fuss-free.
As for the bad: Well, first of all, there’s too little of the product inside in my opinion. In comparison with the other lipsticks or lip glosses, which usually last for a year or even more, here I can see that if I keep on using it on a daily basis, it won’t last for more than a couple of months. At the same time the price tag is hefty - $19.50. You know, NYX lipsticks are much more affordable and they offer more product.
Or for instance, my lovely lippies from Inglot. They cost almost the same as this Clinique lippie, but they go such a long way with me and in general, their results look very alike. I conclude that here there isn’t much of the formula, but it cost a fortune.
Secondly, this isn’t a lip tint at all. Because the wear time isn’t like tinted lip products, due to the light coverage, which also fades easily after a meal. I can’t also say that it’s a lip lacquer, because after all, it has a matte finish. But again, the wear time isn’t like lip lacquer.
Overall: there are two good and two bad things that I can conclude with. But for me, the disadvantages are more serious here. I can describe this stick as a cute product, which can replace a heavy lipstick, which is matte, yet not discomforting matte. But for the price it costs, I wish it offered a better staying power and I don’t want it to fade so quickly. The thing is that it usually stays put only at my lip edges.
It’s up to you to decide whether to buy it or not. But I have to say that I expected something better, even though I still like the way it looks on my lips, especially in the pictures and evening makeup, unless I start eating of course. =) That’s why 4 stars, only for a beautiful shade and a lightweight coverage.
I hope that you found my review interesting and useful! Stay gorgeous forever!
