Estee Lauder 1
It took me a long time to test this foundation out and I’ll tell you why a little bit lower.
I adore their classy Double Wear Nude foundation and truly believe that it’s one of the best products in the market.
The reimagined Double Wear Light is a tad different and the maker states that it’s matte and non-drying. A rather interesting combo, right? But as an owner of dry skin type, I was rather skeptical about this foundation, which claims to be “matte”. So, what happened in the end?
Packaging: It’s a soft tube with a golden cap. Light and compact.
Texture: This Double Wear Light version of the foundation is pretty thick and not runny.
Shade: Mine is 2N1 Desert Beige. Neutral beige shade.
And a few words on how to tell the numbers:
The first number is actually the shade. 1 is light, 2 is medium and 3 is dark.
The letter here states for the undertone. N is Neutral, C is pinky Cold and W is more yellow warm tone.
And the last number is actually the pigmentation of the undertone.
My impressions
At first, I was absolutely blown away with the way this product applied, blended and distributed over my skin. The texture was so pliant. I could even layer it if it didn’t set yet.
By the way, the formula sets quickly because this Double Wear Nude foundation is more like a foundation powder, it sets itself and doesn’t require a powder application afterward.
My impressions changed with “well, seriously, is my skin really so dry?!” And one more thing, the coverage was obvious and I could detect it not only on the macro shots but also when I was touching-up. After that, I put this foundation aside and thought about how much I hate writing negative reviews.
However, later on, I noticed that all my foundation was also accentuating my dry skin patches (not so much as the hero of the review, though) and I turned to a more profound skincare and nurture technique. I added some oils into my skin care game and they worked.
That’s why I decided to give this Estee Lauder Double Wear Light one more chance. And you know what? It worked.
My skin looked photoshopped with it on - all the pores were concealed and my complexion was even and smooth. Moreover, the staying power was impressive, no matter what I was up to throughout the day. I couldn’t detect it on my skin anymore and there was no tightening sensation either. I started using it on a daily basis. The finish isn’t dead matte, it appears more natural.

I applied the foundation:
Total look:
Now I have to spend more time to prep my skin - a few drops of oil, my daytime moisturizer and a good layer of a moisturizing primer (usually, I wipe my skin with a toner and then opt for a moisturizer or a primer).
Overall: This product will be fine for any skin tone, except dry. Besides, if you suffer from flaking, then it’s better to toss this product for you as well. Some years ago I was suffering constant skin flaking and if I would try this foundation at that time, I think you can guess where it would quickly find its way to. Now my skin care game is thorough and I can use it all the time. I appreciate its characteristics, especially skin relief smoothing out and staying power. Yet still, keep in mind that my skin is totally prepped for it.
That’s why only 4 stars. It’s subjective, yet still, I prefer more moisturizing foundations for me.
It was a good lesson for me that I have to take good care of my skin in winter.
