I would have never tried out this mascara if not for beauty boxes that deliver samples and miniatures.
Even though I already have my holy grail creator of beautiful eyelashes, I’m always glad to try something new. But this time, it led me to disappointment instead of joy. How come? What’s wrong with it?

Packaging
My miniature is identical to the full-size version. There was a black box. It looks divinely stylish, I must admit it.
It’s a black tube with edges that shine like crystals in the sun.
The full-size brush is eight-shaped.
Mine is ordinary, straight, not too thick, made of nylon. It’s a bit curvy only in the middle. Why didn’t they make it the same as in the full-size. I thought the brush was the most important part of the mascara. Or am I wrong?
Maybe this shape and bristles allow to build up maximum volume, but personally I’m not into such brushes. I can vividly imagine my stained eyelid. Well, at least I wouldn’t have to bother about eyeshadow anymore.
The stopper is wide and works bad. There is a lot of the excess on the brush so I constantly have to wipe the bristles. Very convenient, especially in the morning haste. So I have to dance around this with a wet wipe in my hand.
The mascara is fragrance-free, it has a slight cosmetic smell.
The formula is thick, but, to be honest, it seemed to be a little dry IMO. I always wanted to add water. But I never did this to new mascaras. I wonder what it would turn into after a month? A piece of play-doh, I suppose.
My eyelashes:
Ordinary, straight, without any natural curl.
Here are my requirements for any mascara:
- it must give curl, for I use no curling device
- length
- separation and decent volume. I fell out of love with the drama effect and spider legs, I don’t want my look to be weighed down.
I can’t say nature has not endowed me with eyelashes, but finding a right mascara is truly essential for me. The mascara that would emphasize the beauty of each lash and hide imperfections.
What did I like about Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Mascara?
Does it give volume? It does. It makes the eyelashes instantly visible. But the price for it...
What I didn’t like
The fact that the mascara glues my lashes together into one horrendous black line. Just take a look at the photo. Is this truly a bold expressive look?
It’s hard to call these "eyelashes". These are spider legs sticking out in all directions. There is no hint of separation here, plus all the eyelashes have different lengths. Looking for positive sides is just a waste of time here.
This thick dry formula killed all the volume. It looks as though I applied a mascara for the first time in my life. Plus, it stains the upper lid. It couldn’t have been otherwise with such a brush, though.
Conclusion: so, what’s the bottom line? Don’t be afraid of miniatures and samples, they might save you from wasting your money on useless stuff.
This mascara totally sucks. After a few hours of wear, the mascara starts falling off, making my lashes heavy like tree branches. This is the worst experience ever.
Can a miniature be worse than full-size? I highly doubt it.
Also, it’s hard to remove. Welcome, Ms. Raccoon!
Of course, I won’t recommend this.
