MARC JACOBS Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara
Major drama and voluminous lashes. This handy brush grips even the smallest and thinnest lashes. However, there’s a drawback which is worth taking off two stars at once.
Hi there!
My makeup can be different: daytime, evening, bright, colorful, nude and so on. But, there’s no makeup when I don’t wear any mascara. For me, it’s one of the essential makeup products which I can’t get by without.
Today I want to share my thoughts about MARC JACOBS Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara.
The lash-maximizing, curvy brush in this volumizing mascara places the most volume at the hard-to-reach center lash line, and the defining tip styles lashes for major drama. The ultra-concentrated black pigment delivers the greatest visual impact, and the flash volume complextm creates instant, smudge-free length and volume in three strokes or less.
Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara gives you the thickest lashes in a blink. This majorly volumizing mascara delivers instant volume for your most epic lashes yet.
The product was packed with a cardboard box of black and vanilla shades, like all other products from the brand, though. The packaging also has the shade number and mine is #10 Noir. Unfortunately, at the time when I wrote this review, I didn't have that box anymore.
The tube with the mascara is really beautiful, stylish and interestingly shaped. It has the «Marc Jacobs» lettering all over. It catches the eye with its uniqueness. I’ve never had anything of that kind before in my collection and once I saw it in the store, I quickly bought it.
The price was $26.
The most important thing about any mascara is its brush. Here we have a fluffy brush with plenty of bristles over it. They are of different sizes yet they are so dense that they grab all my lashes, even those ones which are usually hard to reach.
The stopper works fine and leaves the right amount of the formula on the brush. At the same time, I can see that it doesn’t stain the rimes of the tube at all. The mascara is pleasant and neat to use, which I appreciate because I love it when my makeup looks as though brand new.
The consistency is excellent. It applies with an even coat over my lashes on the first go. I didn’t have to wait till it became better, it was fine starting with the very first day that I bought it.
The consistency is creamy and it applies well on the first go.
The color is black and really well-pigmented. I can see that it really defines my eyes, making them pop.
Ingredients list:
Water, Paraffin, Glyceryl Stearate, Synthetic Beeswax, Stearic Acid, Acacia Senegal Gum, Butylene Glycol, Palmitic Acid, Polybutene, Oryza Sativa Cera (Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Wax), VP/Eicosense Copolymer, Ozokerite, Aminomethyl Propanol, Phenoxyethanol, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Stearyl Stearate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sodium Nitrate, Tropolone, Disodium Phosphate, Polysorbate 60, Sodium Phosphate, Iron Oxides (CI 77499).
My lashes: long, average thickness and length, almost no curl, straight. Besides, I have hooded eyes so my lashes are almost invisible.
My hooded eyes make me look sad and eyes small, that’s why I expect good volume, length and curl from my mascara to make my eyes pop.
I apply the mascara with a V on my lashes covering from my roots to the tips. At the same time, I try to lift them up too. This technique works for me and the product applies well and doesn’t clump my lashes together.
I place the brush horizontally and coat my lashes from the outer Vs of my eyes. I coat the thinnest and smallest lashes with the tip of the brush.
One layer is enough for daytime makeup, while the evening look calls for two or even three coats and packing.
Most frequently, I wear my mascara with two coats, which are okay even for my daytime makeup because of my hooded eyes. I have to do it to make my eyes pop, adding some volume and length.
I love the result that I see on my lashes: they are long, separated, curled and voluminous. My eyes really pop with it and appear as though bigger. At the same time, they don’t look heavy or anything.
Staying power: It’s good. The volume or curl don’t go down. But, the product flakes off, so I always have to look in the mirror to wipe it off from my lower eyelids.
Removing: I have several products in my stash: cleansing oil and micellar water. They both wash off my makeup well, so I can’t see any point in buying any other specific ones.
Pros:
Cons:
MARC JACOBS Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara transforms my lashes, lifts them and defines.
But, there’s one gripe which makes me take off two stars at once.
