Hey!
There are a lot of people saying that the matte lipstick trend is over. However, I totally disagree with them. I think there’ll be the so-called new era of the matte liquid lipsticks soon. Yes, those super long-wearing and drying lipsticks aren’t trendy anymore but nowadays they are replaced by new lipsticks which offer the powdered lips effect.
I know only three brands which offer such formula: NYX Powder Puff Lippie, ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip and the hero of my today’s review the Lime Crime Plushies.
Where to buy the Lime Crime Plushies Liquid Lipstick?
I can tell you at least three places where you can actually purchase it:
1. Cult Beauty- £12,5
2. Lime Crime (official site) - $20
3. Beauty stores - $20
Is it pricey for the lipstick?
Well, that’s a rather complicated question for me and you’ll know why below.
The size of the product is 3.5ml.
The Lime Crime team has completely changed the packaging and the tube. Now the product arrives in a plastic box, which is so great I think, as the cardboard boxe lose their appearance very quickly. And yes, I do store all my lipsticks in the boxes and the way they retailed.
The newly designed tube is made of a see-through glass which isn’t matte anymore. And of course the top cap has changed as well. It’s not plastic anymore but now it’s made of some velvet to the touch silicone material. (those who ever touched the original iPhone case understand what I’m talking about) So, the cap is nice and very pleasant to the touch.
The Plushies design doesn’t offer any roses like Velvetines lipsticks. Now they’ve placed two charming bears here to the top.
The applicator was also renewed. It has become narrower with a transparent wand.
There are 12 shades in the collection. I have my lippie in the color Turkish Delight. Honestly I truly love and hate this color.
Application.
They recommend to apply the lipstick with the thinnest coat to get the veil effect on the lips. I also tried to dab it with my finger and apply two very thin layers. I’ll describe both options here.
Fingertip application. If you apply the product with your fingertips you’ll get a kinda tinted lips effect. Your lips won’t show much of the pigment. I like this result very much.
Thin applicator coating. Here it is, the light veil coverage on my lips. As you can see the lippie doesn’t accentuate my lips crevices. By the way, this powder formula is nice to make your lips visually more pouty and fuller, as you won’t even have to outline them with a lip liner.
2 coats application. If you apply the product with two coats, then you’ll get the real effect of the matte liquid lipstick on your lips but with a very soft texture.
My impressions of use of the Lime Crime Plushies Lipstick. I’m so excited about it! The product offers such a lightweight formula that you won’t even notice its presence on your lips while wear. The wear time is excellent but of course the lippie won’t live through a meal with fatty food. Though I can assure you that there isn’t a lipstick in the world to live through fatty food.
After the negative experience I had with the Kylie Cosmetics lipstick, I’m very pleased that this lippie doesn’t crease in the inside of my mouth with a white film. The Lime Crime lipstick comes off very delicately and while wear I can only see that it becomes fairer with time.
Scent. When I opened the tube for the first time a thought that the lipstick smelled of some kids makeup ran though my mind. For a really long time this scent used to remind me of something else but I couldn’t remember what exactly. Until one day when I finally understood that this lippie smells exactly the same as the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick. The scent is just one and the same. And not actually only the scent though…
Shade. To tell you the truth, I’m a little bit upset with the shade. I expected it to be faint pink or a little reddish but it arrived baby pink. Maybe it looks so only against my lips? Have you tried this shade? How do you find it?
By the way, this color looks exactly the same as the Bourjois lipstick #10 which I’ve already mentioned above.
Here is the swatch on my lips.
By the by, once they released this lipstick collection, it was already accompanied with a small scandal. You see, an American blogger ordered this Plushies lippie and later claimed that the tube arrived empty to him.
I want to say you that you’ll see some empty space in any liquid lipstick tube if you twist the applicator, so it’s okay and there’s nothing to worry about.
Will I recommend the new lipstick by Lime Crime Plushies to you? Yep, I will. It’s a must-have for your beauty bag. Will I buy the lippie of the same formula? I guess I will because I also want to try other shades like Rosebud, Butterscotch, Marmalad, Milk Tea and Cola.
