Hello there!

Today I’m on air with one more new product from Maybelline - Snapscara. I paid my attention to it at the end of the last year, when I first saw it on their official site. But it was still unavailable at the local stores and you know, Maybelline is not the brand to bother with online purchasing.

Some time ago, I noticed there were more and more reviews of this mascara, which were either positive or negative. I was super curious to find everything out.

And that was the day when they delivered it to the local Walmart, so it was a crime to pass by, considering the price was less than $6.

Since there’s a small mountain of black mascaras in my collection, I chose the shade Black Cherry at that time.

There are 4 shades in the line-up:

  • Pitch Black

  • Ultra Violet

  • Black Cherry

  • Deja Blue

Price - $5.94

Place of purchase: Walmart

Manufactured: USA

Product description:

So, the new product’s idea is snap application and snap wash off.

Packaging - it’s simple and rather post-teen: easy to scratch plastic and pictured eyes, this is not Charlotte Tilbury anyway. Smile

The bottom part has a huge sticker and that’s all.

Applicator

They promise us the game-changing brush, which is to glide over our lashes, leaving them separated with one stroke.

In life, the brush is regular and not silicone.

It’s odd shape-wise. Such a strange cone, which doesn't make the application a pinch easier.

The back of the brush is huge, so it’s practically impossible to coat my lashes without staining my eyelids.

But, I have to give credit to the thin tip, which is nice to coat my difficult to reach and smallest lashes.

Smell - it’s light, sweet and not typical for mascaras.

Consistency - cream-gel lightweight formula. This is that very formula that applies with a thin layer on my lashes at first. And even though the product is said to be volumizing, I’d say that it’s more like lengthening.

The Snapcara in action

About my lashes: they are thin and of average length. Currently, they fall out a lot because of seasonal changes, that’s why they look worse than usual.

Since I’m a vibrant makeup junkie, a good mascara is essential for me.

The product applies with a thin layer, sticking my lashes together.

I have to comb them with the brush again and again so as to make them appear more or less separated. Yet, the formula sets quickly. And it doesn’t want to sit even over the dried layer because it lifts up the previously applied coat.

So, if you want to have your lashes beautiful and more or less separated, apply it with a snap.

And it might seem that the result isn’t awful but it isn’t awesome either. I can see that my lashes are long, though they aren’t voluminous. The tips of my lashes go down and there’s almost no curl.

The second coat brings even more problems. My lashes become heavier and hello spider legs!

Maybe 5 years ago, it might be okay for me. But today, when I’ve tried better mascaras that make my lashes look much better, I can’t be raving about this mascara.

I don’t recommend applying more than 2 coats because then you’ll see the finest spider legs instead of your lashes. Well, maybe there are some people who need such an effect.

The product applies well. My eyelids are not heavy with it. It doesn’t provoke allergic reactions.

However, during the wear, my lashes become straight and going down. I’ve never experienced anything of a kind before. Besides, it falls out within 8 hours of wearing.

This is how my eyes looked like yesterday.

This is how my eyes usually look when I forget to take my makeup off and go to bed.

I don’t get it. I understand that the product costs $6 but it still might perform better for the money.

At the end of my working day, I have to touch it up. And what if I’ve got plans for the evening? I feel ashamed to appear in public with such eyes.

Once again Maybelline has tried to invent something that already exists in the market. There are hundreds of wax-free tubing mascaras, which are able to give me a better performance.

Yes, this one is also easy to remove with lukewarm water. I read girls mentioning the raccoon eyes effect when washing but there’s none for me. Maybe because of my mascara color.

But am I ready to sacrifice my beautiful and neat appearance for the sake of easy wash off? No, and once again no!

My bathroom shelves are full of different makeup removers, so it’s not a problem for me to wash off even the long-wearing makeup. So why the hell do I need this fail Snapscara?

So today, I don’t recommend Maybelline Snapscara and give it 2 stars.

If you want to try out an easy to wash off, falling out mascara, not in a black color, then please, give this one a go.

As for me, I’ll make sure it quickly finds its way to the trash bin.

I feel sorry for another wasted $6.
