According to one experienced beauty blogger, NARS Audacious lipsticks are the most comfortable and pleasant to wear out there. If you’ve ever tried them, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. And if you’re meeting the brand for the first time, then you’ll get a chance to find that out. For my first use, I decided to opt for the most popular and beautiful wearable shade APOLINE. It’s so juicy, yet not vibrant at the same time. Ash rose, which isn’t too bold or bright.

This is my first lipstick from the brand. Well, the first product from them, to be exact. And you know what: I like everything about it, starting from the packaging and finishing with its performance. Just everything.
Outer appearance: Here the price/quality tag is in direct ratio. If you want to have a good quality, nicely designed product, then be ready to splurge on it. The casing is metal. It closes with a magnet cap, which is long and square.
The design is really stylish - matte black cover with glossy lettering all over. There’s a small feature - just twist the stick up and you’ll see the brand’s engraving on one of the sides.

Even though the product looks posh and sophisticated, it still has a drawback. The thing is that the matte cover willingly collects all the stains (especially if you used your foundation/concealer beforehand). It’ll also be stained with all the products, which you have spilled in your makeup pouch (powder or blusher). As for me, my lipstick lost its trade dress within a week.

Shade and finish: The “ash pink rose” shade doesn’t look “ash” over white skin, as I’d like it to be. But still, I love this result. Right after the application, the shade might look a tad vibrant but it sets within some time and when I blot it with a blotting paper, it looks more matte and “faded”. So, if your complexion is close to mine color-wise, think about it before purchasing.

This shade is a mixture of a muted and vibrant shade. It’s very easy to pack. If you want a more muted color, then apply the product with one layer and then blot the coverage with a blotting paper. You’ll see how the vibrancy disappears, leaving a slight matte tint behind. If you’re in the right mood for APOLINE, then pack the coverage. Its texture is soft and creamy. The lipstick will never budge or settle down in your fine lines. The texture is creamy, that’s true, but the coverage may still look matte, as I’ve described above. And the staying power will be worse then, of course.
Be ready to watch a mirror and touch-up from time to time, especially over the inner lip (mine usually disappears there, though still holds on well on the edges). I also want to note that the Audacious lipsticks can’t stand touching due to their soft and creamy formula. One wrong move and you risk staining your face all over.

Blondes or brunettes?
Both, definitely. It’s obvious that such shade would look more advantageous and vibrant over gals with darker hair, though, it’ll still be really festive and beautiful. If your hair is blond, it’ll also look gorgeous over you: this shade is able to refresh and make you look so adorable.
Impressions of use
If I were to describe this lipstick with three words, I’d say the following: comfy, pigmented and so worthy. When I look at it, I always get the proof that it’s excellent. One can apply it right from the stick or use a lip brush for a more precise contour.
For instance, when I apply this lippie in the morning and I don’t eat (well, maybe have a cup of coffee/tea with a sweet), then it’ll stay on for 2-3 hours. The coverage fades delicately, leaving a tinting colored stain behind. If I have something fatty for lunch like a bowl of soup, for instance, then the coverage will disappear.
This lippie really makes me look better and it adorns my makeup so well.
Now, I want to try out other shades from the collection as well. According to the swatches, I guess that everyone will find a good match there (maybe more than just one).
Yet still, I recommend you test the product before purchasing in-store and buy the shade according to your own preferences.
