I’ve bought this setting spray half a year ago, after I’ve read reviews and decided to give it a try.

Why NYX? This brand is all the rage now. However, many other brands have similar products in their lines now.
The NYX makeup setting spray is supposed to keep your makeup in place. It’s available in Matte Shine-Free Finish (I own this one) or Dewy Fresh Glow. I thought the matte finish would be more appropriate for my combination skin.
What does it mean, matte and dewy fresh finish?
Don’t think that by spraying it on your face you’ll instantly be rid of oily shine. These sprays don’t work this way. The one with dewy finish gives the skin a dewy glow, which on my skin looks simply like oily shine. The matte one gives no such effect. If you spray it on your fresh makeup and wait till it’s dry, you’ll see no changes. It won’t mattify a glowing moisturizing foundation either.
Personally I use no glowing foundation, that’s why the spray simply makes my skin matte. But no oily shine appears even in 2-3 hours, even in summer time.

If you don’t apply makeup and use only day cream, you definitely don’t need this spray. It must be applied on makeup.
I apply my daily makeup in the following order: day cream, mattifying makeup base, concealer, bronzer and blush.
My makeup for special occasions consists of: day cream, mattifying makeup base, mattifying foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush and highlighter.
In the end I just apply this setting spray. It feels like water. As long as it’s still wet, I don’t touch my makeup.

It makes my makeup last 3-4 hours longer than usual. Yes, yes, all these makeup bases, creams and powders cannot handle my oily skin, and the shine appears anyway. It’s not so noticeable yet annoying.

I have to touch up my makeup once a day. Without the setting spray, it would be three times.
I find this setting spray really helpful. I can use it everyday. It doesn’t dry my skin out or clog my pores.But please remember that it must be applied on mattifying makeup products. Without them, the spray itself is useless.As for the packaging, I’m okay with it - a plastic bottle with a robust dispenser, two sprays are enough for the whole face.
There’s a fragrance, and it looks like it’s alcohol-based. But again, it doesn’t dry out my combination skin, even when used daily.Price: 8. 00
