This is the first time I used a waterproof eyeshadow primer. But in many reviews I read that girls faced problems of creasing with it. I hesitated for a moment, yet still was too curious not to give it a shot myself.
I have combo skin type and hooded eyes. So, I know the situation when my eyeshadows crease by the midday perfectly well.
I also love wearing waterproof mascara when I go to the gym. Sometimes I’m in a rush, when I have to go on business right after the gym and I don’t have enough time to apply my makeup. And the waterproof mascara helps me out a lot. It stays on and looks beautiful. But what about eyeshadow? Let’s test this NYX primer out?
At first I want to draw your attention to the most important things.
The primer was packed with a glossy box. It was initially sealed with tape to prevent accidental opening:

The primer is housed in the same looking tube, as the popular NYX matte liquid lipsticks. The only thing that differs is the top cap. Here it looks glossy:

The applicator also looks like an applicator from a matte liquid lipstick because it’s small and furry.

On the box there’s instructions to follow given:

Consistency-wise, the primer is of average thickness. It doesn’t feather, bleed or crumble. It’s pretty easy to apply and the formula holds its shape.
The color is beigy and semi transparent.
When I smear the primer over my skin, it becomes transparent. The scent of the product is very subtle and cosmetic-like.
How do I use this primer by NYX?1. I take up a little bit of the formula and rub it gently between my fingers. After that I apply it over my eyelids with the thinnest layer.
2. I dotty apply a little bit of the primer on my lids and then neatly smear it all over my skin.
And of course it’s obvious that the spending of the product is minimal.
So, let’s start experimenting:
For my experiments I took some loose pigments (also by NYX, by the way) and applied them over this primer:
After that I thoroughly washed the pigment with the primer under a stream of water of different temperatures:

It was tricky to wash them off even with a micellar water afterwards:
At the same time I applied this primer with the same pigments on my eyes. They were applied at 10.45.
✔ Some time later, at 10 pm to be exact, I looked at my eyelids very closely to check how the experiment was going. And I could see that the products looked the same as in the morning.
All the 11 hours of wearing the NYX primer:
✔✔✔ Holds my eyeshadows in place. They still look even and don’t fade away or fall out.
✔✔✔ They don't look creased. Oh my God, it’s a miracle on my hooded eyes!
That’s stunning!

Then I decided to have a shower with these products on my eyes. After all, they promised waterproof makeup, didn’t they? Of course I needed to check it.
At first I just washed my face with water, not touching my eyes a lot, though the water could still get there.
✔after that my eyeshadows were where they should be and didn’t crease or disappear.
Having a shower-
✔ the products also survived the shower. Of course I didn’t rub my eyes severely and of course I didn’t use any facial cleansers. But the humid air was everywhere. Plus water was pouring down on me, including the NYX primer for sure.
✔ I also noticed that my eyeshadows look brighter over this primer, rather than when I apply them over my naked skin.
You can use this primer in different situations:
✔ on the beach or while hiking
✔ in the gym and water-world
✔ when you need to be sure that your makeup will stay in place if you get caught in the rain
✔ when you have to be sure that your makeup won’t fade away or vanish when you don’t need it.
But you can also forget about its waterproof feature and use it as a regular eyeshadow primer.
Of course I’m in love with this NYX Proof It eyeshadow primer and especially its wear time and waterproof makeup it presents me. ♡
