This is the new product from Smashbox: Studio Skin Flawless 24 hour Concealer. This product has a huge pile of positive reviews on Sephora and, according to the maker, it offers medium to full buildable coverage, good pigmentation, and awesome staying power. So, once I had a chance to get it, I immediately bought it and now I’m completely delighted with this new babe.
The product is rather runny in consistency and it’s nice to apply and distribute. However, be careful - if you pull the wand up too quickly, there’s a chance that the formula will fly out of the tube and stain everything around.
As for the applicator, it’s flat and petal-shaped. According to the reviews, it’s very handy to use but for me that’s of not such importance because I use the applicator just for a small dot on my face and then blend it out either with my finger or a brush. But if you prefer blending the concealer with the featured applicator, then you’ll probably find it handy too. I also want to say from me that aside from the shape, the applicator has a really good wand. And its shape is great too.
So, the formula is well packed with pigments, that’s true. For my job, I bought it in the shade Fair Warm and I can also use it for highlighting. As I’ve already mentioned, the consistency is pliant and it makes the product easy to blend even over a foundation. No problems with packing the coverage. The color selection is wide, there are several shades and you can also find a matchy undertone for you. So nice!
The staying power is fine. I haven’t tried it with 24-hour wearing but it stays on my skin for several hours very well. The creasing and small fine lines setting are minimal and mostly depends on my skin condition, as well as on the amount of the product applied. Currently, this is the best concealer that I’ve ever tried, given the fact of coverage and non-creasing formula.
As for the good, I also want to note the finish of the product. It’s a little bit powdery, though still natural and it never looks like a mask on my face (unless you overdo it or use too much setting powder).
To the disadvantage list, I can put a slight chemical smell and the mentioned above feature of the tube of spitting the product. For me, these aspects aren’t critical but maybe are important for some of you.
No matter how positive my review may sound, I still suppose that this new concealer is no good for dry or non-prepped skin. The concealer dries out my under eye skin and I can’t see any point in using it daily.
But, if you’re searching a good, well pigmented and long-lasting concealer for some special occasion events or photo shoots, then I can highly recommend it to you. I think you’ll be as pleased with it as I am.
