I keep on using my small pile of deluxe samples and this time I want to tell you about Tarte Maneater Voluptuous Mascara. This is my first mascara from the brand and the second product from them (after a lipstick) in general. I was not very pleased with the lipstick and it went much better with the mascara.

The deluxe sample is a little bit different from the full size. The big one is golden, while the mini is purple.

It isn’t small, though. 4.5ml all in all. That means half of the full size. I guess it’ll be enough to use within an entire month. But as for me, it’ll last longer because I have several mascaras which I use.

The list of ingredients from the official site:

Water/Aqua/Eau, synthetic beeswax, beeswax/cera alba/cire d’abeille, jojoba esters, cera carnauba/copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax/cire de carnauba, glycerin, stearic acid, palmitic acid, aminomethyl propanediol, acacia senegal gum, caprylyl glycol, hydroxyethylcellulose, myristic acid, arachidic acid, behenic acid, oleic acid, tocopherol, phenoxyethanol, iron oxides (CI 77499).

They state that the brush features over 5 hundred flexible bristles to curl and coat lashes with even, intense pigment. I’ll show you below if it’s true to life or not.

The brush is made of silicone and long bristles which are smaller to the tip. If you accidentally get it into your eye, that would be a catastrophe. Unfortunately, I know what I’m talking about.

Such brushes are usually nice to comb lashes.

Actually, looking at this brush I can see that it’s almost identical with the one from the Seventeen X-Traordinare Mascara. With the slightest difference that the last one is two times cheaper than Tarte. Smile

The rounded tip also has several bristles but I hardly ever use it because usually, it has too much of the formula there. Look:

I mean you can still always wipe it off over the rims. But be ready to see your mascara stained with the formula some time later.

In fact, the stopper inside is good and it doesn’t let too much of the formula sit on the brush and my lashes.

And now let’s look at the product in action.

My nude lashes aren’t voluminous or long. They’re almost invisible.

And now two coats of it. By the way, it pops already from the first coat. But usually, I go for a more vibrant finish.

And here they are, my lashes appearing.

As for the curl, I can see it but it’s minimal. My lashes on one eye are rather straight naturally. But I can see some color and volume and length.

My mini is more than one month old so clumping might be obvious but I don’t see anything like that. Well, maybe some teeny-tiny clumps which are detectable only when I look very close. It will be tough to create a masterpiece from my lashes but they do look beautiful. And I have to praise the mascara for that.

The staying power isn’t bad. But it stains my oily lids even when it isn’t boiling hot outside. I have to control it all the time and wipe off.

The removal is a tad complicated. Usually, I wash off my makeup with a cleansing oil while taking a shower and then remove what’s left with micellar water. But this mascara has its own rules. It smudges severely from a cleansing oil and then stains my under eyes very much. After that, I can still remove it with micellar water but I’ll have to try hard.

I won’t say it’s a drawback. The product just requires more time to remove than I’d like to.

$23 on the official site.

The deluxe sample, like mine, can be found for $10 for an item.

The mascara is really good, even though it has some minor drawbacks, like staining my eyes and staying power against a cleansing oil. I guess it’ll look fantastic over long lashes.

However, I don’t think it’s unique. I can get the same results with other mascaras which are cheaper. Let alone the dupes of it.
