I adore trying out new cosmetic products, especially when it comes to eye makeup. So, I was more than just happy when I bought the Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Eyeshadow Palette.
The box of the palette is adorned with flower petals prints. It’s made of thick plastic with a click closure. Inside the palette you’ll find a big and convenient mirror. The palette itself is rather compact in size as it’s about 10cm lengthwise and width-wise.
All the shades are very soft and have a rather chunky texture, so be careful as a too rough brush can make them dusty and quickly show a dent in the pans.
It might have become a perfect eyeshadow palette if there weren’t some issues about it which I can’t leave out hence assess the Tarte Tartelette In Bloom with all the 5 stars.
First of all, the darker shades can leave stains during application or blending. Here it’s very important to choose a good quality brush and blend the colors properly.
Secondly, the smell. These eyeshadows smell of either vanilla or chocolate. For me this smell is too potent as I prefer less fragranced cosmetics.
And now let’s have a closer look at the shades themselves.
The upper row - Charmer, Jetsetter, Rocker, Smokeshow.Charmer
- it’s an off white shade which is nice to apply all over the mobile lid to make the blending of other shades go easier afterwards.
Jetsetter - warm-toned gray-taupe shade which is fine for the crease.
Rocker - luster taupe shade
Smokeshow - cool-toned gray-brown shade which works nice for darkening the crease or the lower lash line.
The middle row - Flower Child, Smarty Pants, Firecracker, Activist.Flower Child
- the most versatile and basic beige matte shade.
Smarty Pants - warm beige-brown color for the crease
Firecracker - warm-toned bronzy shimmer shade
Activist - dark cool-toned gray-brown which I like to use for the smokey eyes and darkening of the outer V.
The lower row - Funny Girl, Sweetheart, Rebel, Leader.Funny Girl
- champagne shade. This one is also fairly basic and versatile.
Sweetheart - matte peach shade
Rebel - warm-toned brick color
Leader - dark aubergine shade
And now the makeups which I created using this palette.
The Firecracker is applied here all over the mobile lid. The outer V as well as lower lids are done with the Rebel shade. I also applied a golden eye pencil by NYX to the waterline and used the Nouba mascara on my eyelashes. The inner corners and brow bone are done with the Lime Crime highlighter.
The Rocker is all over my mobile lid, then I applied the Jetsetter to the crease and applied the Funny Girl with a wet brush to the inner corners of the eyes. The eyeliner is by MAC and again, some Nouba mascara on the lashes.
The Charmer shade is used for the inner corners and over the mobile lid. The Sweetheart color is in the outer corners. And for the darkening of the crease I applied some Activist shade. The Funny Girl is applied with a wet brush to the inner corners. Again, MAC Gel eyeliner and Nouba mascara.
Over the base with Armani Eye Tint #11
I applied the Smokeshow
shades all over my mobile lids and then blended them out with the Rebel
On the waterline you can see the MUFE Aqua XL
and the Lime Crime
highlighter in the inner corners. Nouba mascara one more time.
All in all the Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Eyeshadow palette is really thought-out. Using only this palette you can create a lot of daytime makeup as well as some smokey eyes makeups. But it hasn’t become my favorite palette because of the smell and staining blending of some shades. Price - $46
