As a loyal fan of the Too Faced brand, I couldn’t pass by their newly released eyeshadow palette to celebrate the brand’s 20th anniversary.
First of all, I was attracted by the beautiful packaging. I fall for everything glittering and sparkling, you know. 😀
And yeah, the color selection for sure! I adore all the mauve-purple shades which are a small mountain here. :)In a word, for some time I used to come to the stores, swatching the shades to make sure that the pigmentation was excellent and that I essentially need this palette.
And in the end, I bought it! :)Here it is! My precious!
Packaging is a thick paper with a magnet. It isn’t standard, though, because it’s long and not handy. I find it's nice for domestic use only because the size isn’t travel-friendly at all.
But it’s of no importance for me because I never carry my eyeshadow palettes with me.
The color selection is wide. Here we can see neutral beige shades as well as bold and bright ones, which are screaming for attention! :)By the way, I find the placement of the refills very user-friendly. Looking at the palette, I can already see that the top shade is a perfect match for the bottom one.
There’s a selection of texture
as well. There are mattes, sparkling and pressed glitter textures.
These are my favorite shades. But have a look at how terribly the refills sit there. So messy
that's awesome, isn't it?
As for the smell, it’s supposed to smell like a yummy birthday cake but I can’t make out anything like that. I mean the palette has its aroma but I can’t say that it’s sweet and tasty.
I decided not to stop on each and every shade because my review will be too long and boring then. So, let’s pass over to the swatches right now. :)The top line:
And now the bottom row:
daytime lights. Look at those blue and purple shades! They are fantastic!
The pigmentation is out of this Universe. The shades are bright - both textures, matte and shimmering ones. The shimmers stole my heart forever with their beauty and deep tones!
And now, let’s talk about a downside that freaks me out and destroys everything. 😟
Despite all the beauty and vibrancy of the shades, they are too dusty. That’s terrible! I mean they don’t fall out when I wear them. They dust down when I apply them over my lids. I’ve tried a lot of methods but nothing worked. My cheeks and nose are always covered with glitter. 😟 So, I have to put my eye makeup on first and only after that apply my foundation, which is so unusual for me. I’m not into this technique at all.
Staying power- It’s very good! A little bit lower I’ll show you how the products looked like when I tried to wash them off with a really powerful makeup remover.
as you can see, the dark shades don't want to leave my skin so easily
And here are some makeups I created, using this palette under different lights.
Overall: the palette is beautiful. It isn’t essential because it's very tough to work with due to the fall out aspect.
If you’re a newbie, I’d recommend you purchase the Golden Chocolate Bar from Too Faced. That one isn’t whimsical at all. But as for the color selection, I still love this Then & Now palette more.
But if you’re the same brand worshiper like me, then I can highly recommend it for a collection!
