Hello there!
It’s already been a year since the hype about the Lo-Fi from Urban Decay had started and now I honored it with my attention.
No, I would have never bought it for the full price, no matter what. I thought I’d never like it as a lip product but still, I was so curious.
And one day, looking through the Sephora’s weekly wow, I saw it on sale for $11.
The next day, I could already get my hands onto it…

Product says:
Ready for modern matte lip color that's as chill as an afternoon record-shopping sesh? Whipped to airy perfection, Urban Decay's Lo-Fi Lip Mousse is a weightless, buildable, waterproof lip color. It provides high-impact color with a velvety soft finish that feels like you're wearing nothing. The plush matte texture is very of-the-moment, and the application is effortless.
Loaded with pigment, Lo-Fi's budge-proof, buildable formula lets you control the color and keep it where you want - from sheer to full coverage. Feeling low-key? Pat on the mousse with your fingertips for that 'barely there' effect. Wanna go bold? Create definition with the pop-out applicator. How about soft and sexy? Apply it intensely at the center of the lip, fading it out toward the edges like a blooming flower. Any way you choose to apply, Lo-Fi leaves lips soft, smooth and stained with color.
💄 The mousse was packed in a small plastic compact.
💄 The compact was housed in a thick paper box with information about it.
Ingredients:
💄 It offers a mirror as well as a small applicator sponge inside the compact.
And even though it’s been forever since I stopped using such makeup applicators, this one turned out to be rather handy and great to contour my lips.
💄 The texture of the mousse is very soft and easy to pick up with the applicator and my fingers.
It sits on my skin well and blends out nicely.
When I apply it with the sponge, the coverage is thick enough to cover up my natural lip pigment. This coverage looks like a matte lipstick which I don’t feel on my lips though.
If I pack it with my finger, the finish is like from a Korean lip tint.
💄 At first, I wanted to go for a purple mousse but while I was thinking about whether to buy it or not, the purple shades were sold out. I had to opt for one more red color, called Amplify. It’s such a “right” shade of red with a cool undertone. It’ll flatter any skin tone.
💄 The finish is matte and the coverage is so thin that even feels airy.
It’s budge-proof and will live through a dish of tea or bites. After that, the product is easy to touch-up on my inner lip. The staying power is for almost my entire working day with a few touch-ups.
It might sound like the product is perfection. However, it still has a huge drawback: it dries out my lips like there’s no tomorrow. But still, not so much as my matte lipstick from Yves Saint Laurent.
💄 Given all that, the pigment still won’t stain your lips and will come off from micellar water.
So, I decided to find some other uses for this Lo-FI: not only as a lipstick but also as a blusher and eyeshadows.
In these photos, you can see my makeup done exceptionally with the Urban Decay Lo-Fi Mousse.
Here’s my less “wild” makeup which I wore for Independence Day. I applied the pigment on my lips and eye crease.
The product has awesome staying power on my cheeks. As for my eyes, it doesn’t want to stay on there the same way, so I go for an eyeshadow primer and set the color with a translucent powder afterwards. However, on my oily eyelids, it still doesn’t stay put for more than 5-6 hours and creases a little bit.
Again, I want to stress the pro that it doesn’t stain my skin and removes easy-breezy.
Let’s sum up.
The good:
✅ Saturated color.
✅ Weightless matte coverage.
✅ The pigment doesn’t stain my skin.
✅ Multi-tasking.
✅ Featured applicator and a sponge.
✅ Wear time.
✅ Easy to remove.
The bad:
❌ It dries out my lips.
❌ The full price is $22. I think that’s too much for this product.
❌ It accentuates my lip texture and its flaking bits.
❌ It budges but not too much.
If I were to assess this Lo-Fi Mousse as a lipstick, I wouldn’t give it more than 3 stars.
But since I found some other uses of it too, I give it 4 stars and recommend for purchasing. However, if your lips are sensitive, you might not like this product.
