Fiber mascaras are hardly a novelty. At first, each makeup brand launched their own fibers-containing mascaras. Then they started selling them in kits, with a regular mascara as a base and fibers in separate containers, which allowed you to apply as many fibers as needed.
Personally I don’t like the spider effect I get with such kits, because the fibers apply chaotically and create such a mess on my lashes.
But as a makeup addict, I still wanted to try a fiber kit out, and without spending $10 for a dubious experiment.
And then there was a sale in a local drugstore, and I came across this kit from the super affordable brand Wet-n-Wild. It cost $5,99. I think you’ve already guessed what happened next.

The kit comes in a cute carton box, which promises up to 39x volume. There were two tubes:

The mascara - 0.37 oz
The fibers - 0.035 oz
I think it is really budget friendly, even if you use the mascara without the fibers.
The ingredients of the product are really similar to those of the Nyx Double Stacked Mascara Kit, which cost $15 btw.

And now, without any further ado, let me start with the experiment.
According to the instruction, you have to prime the lashes with the mascara first, then, without delay, use the fibers (the mascara must be still wet, otherwise the fibers won’t apply). Then everything must be fixed with the black mascara again. You can repeat steps 2 - 3 as much as you’d like, but keep in mind that the more coats you apply, the less natural the eyelashes will look.
Step 1. Primer and seal.
It’s just a regular black mascara, with an applicator with classical bristles.

Perfect for everyday makeup, for those who don’t like the so-called dramatic look. I’ve heard many complaints that the mascara doesn’t give your lashes any curl. Yes, it doesn’t, until you curl them yourself. Lift your eyelashes with the applicator and hold them so for a few seconds, and nothing will stick up.
Step 2 - Lengthen. White fibers, soft and weightless. The tube has an applicator with short bristles.

First of all, this kit is not for those who want their eyelashes perfectly separated and natural-looking. So please don’t write comments like : ‘omg, so sloppy’, ‘ugh, looks like dead spider legs’ etc.
I’ll show you the product, but it’s up to you to decide whether you need it or not.
Before:

As you can see, one can wear this mascara even solo.
Now let’s add some fibers:

And fix everything with the black mascara again:

Then let’s repeat steps 2-3 one more time.

Yep, it doesn’t look good on close-up photos, but in real life it looks pretty decent. I expected it to be worse.

Plus the kit doesn’t make my lashes too hard, they are still soft. The fibers don’t feel heavy, unless they get directly into your eyes. So I’d recommend not to apply them close to the eyelash roots.
The mascara didn't fall off or smudge during the day, which surprised me. It doesn’t feel uncomfortable, like false lashes do.
And the main advantage: the mascara easily removes, even just with lukewarm water, leaving no ‘raccoon eyes’ behind.
And even though I’m not a big fan of such eyelashes, I liked the mascara. Even my husband complimented me about my lashes, and that means something.
Yes, the product is quite controversial, but it could become a lifesaver for the girls with short and thin eyelashes, who want to have at least something on their eyes and for whom wearing false lashes is not an option.
I think I give the kit 4 stars. I can recommend it to those who can accept the unnatural look of the lashes.
