Matte Wild n Wild lipsticks are the most popular and affordable lipsticks on the american market and among beauty bloggers all over the world.
I have already had an opportunity to try out some products by the brand, so when buying these lipsticks I already knew that they are usually compared with the matte lipsticks by MAC.
And really, I can say that the consistencies, coverage and textures are very much alike.
Each lipstick is initially sealed with a transparent tape, that shows us that there was nobody before you that opened the product. The top cap closes well but still, I guess, it can pop open while carrying so be careful about it.
The body of the lipstick is made of black plastic material with a transparent top cap which can and will be stained with the lipstick, no matter how much you try to avoid this accident. The outer appearance doesn’t pretend to look high-end, but buying a product I’m always more concerned about the content, rather than about the design.
I can assure you that I’m pretty careful when it comes to storing my cosmetics, yet the stick with the product quickly lost its shine and got scratched.

This is basically our Magnum Opus of lipstick—it’s the one thing we absolutely MUST put on when we’ve got a cocktail party or black tie event. This 4-hour, long-wearing lip color leaves a semi-matte cream finish in one stroke. Glides on easily with a rich, velvety color that doesn’t cake, feather, or bleed.
Made with hydrating skin-care ingredients: Hyaluronic Microspheres provide extraordinary adhesion to lips, an exclusive polymer complex offers cushion-like feel and texture, and natural marine plant extracts coenzyme Q10 and vitamins A & E help smooth lips.
Fragrance - there’s a barely noticeable lipstick smell and for me, the lipsticks smell a little bit like plastic. Yet I don’t feel this aroma while wearing the products on the lips, so no discomforting feelings for me.
The matte line offers a great variety of shades, starting from pale nudes and finishing with the substantive purples. Unconditionally, I wanted to buy the entire line and try out all the shades, moreover the price was pretty affordable.
I want to pay your attention that these lipsticks require precise and careful application with a lip brush or a small applicator. You see, the texture of the products is thick and the cut of the lippie isn’t convenient to apply the product with, so it becomes very tricky to apply it evenly and not to get out of the lip contour. But I have to confess that, when taking these shots for this review, I didn’t use a brush or a lip applicator to apply the lipsticks
My comparison of Wet n Wild and MAC lipsticks
MAC is obviously less thick in pigment and glides better onto the lips.
The texture of all the three shades is thick, creamy, intense and on the first go it gives enough pigment to hide my natural lip color. My lips look bright with this thick pigment on. Quality-wise the Wet n Wild lipsticks are really like MAC ones, as they don’t dry out my lips, yet at the same time there’s no moisture effect either.
The matte finish isn’t actually totally matte, as there’s a slight glossy shine visible. But don’t be upset, as it can be easily removed with a dry tissue, which I always use, if I wear one of the lipsticks.
If your lips are dry, then the dry texture of the products will accentuate all the crevices and flaking. So make sure to moisturize your lips before the lipsticks application.
I have three more beautiful shades in my collection:
1) E904B Rose-bud - warm toned bright pink nude color saturated with the blingy pigment. This shade looks pretty nice on my lips, very feminine and really enlivens my complexion. I like wearing it on a daily basis. In total it doesn’t look pale and will flatter girls who love rich in pigment nude colors.
On a fair skinned girls, it’ll look pink toned and will dry out lips and accentuate flaking. It stays on for about 6 hours and leaves almost no pigment when it fades.
2) E915B Spiked with Rum - warm toned, highly pigmented dark brown shade with a vinous-red undertone. It looks very seductive on the lips and definitely makes my lips look plumper and my total look more attractive.
It’ll be fine for young girls as well as for women and aging dames.
This shade is universal and wearable, though I wouldn’t recommend wearing it every day. Yet, there are no rules, on different girls it looks differently.
3) E906D Wine Room - rich in color dark pink shade with red undertones. It’s so difficult to describe this very shade, as it’s complicated and I can’t make out which color grade it’s of.
All the three shades are pretty problematic while application. Those difficulties are because of the thick texture, especially if you have dry lips. They don’t glide over the lips yet, in general, they are well-pigmented and long wearing.
Two more shades: Wild n Wild E902C Bare it all
- warm toned neutral beige-caramel shade that may look peachy sometimes. This shade flatters my skin color well and is great for everyday wear. It defines flaking. It’ll be great for the warm skin-toned girls.
Wild n Wild Е912С In the Flesh - this is a classic ashes of rose color, but I can't say there’s something special about it. Rather usual wearable color that will flatter every girl.
All in the end I want to say that the these are really cool semi-matte lipsticks. It’ll be tricky to find one definite color, though the collection is big and the color range is wide, so any girl will find a lippie of her liking.
These Wild n Wild lipsticks are good dupes for the MAC ones.
