Hello everyone!
I don’t write reviews for lip products often. The thing is that I’m not very much into experiments. I gravitate towards lip glosses more, because lipsticks are not really my cup of tea. More than that, the makeup that I usually wear is gentle and natural-looking.
However, it happens that sometimes a lip gloss can’t replace a bright lipstick. That’s why I went to the store to find something for myself…
At that time I was determined to find the right shade that would go very well with my skin tone and would accentuate my smile favourably. Earlier I always swatched lipsticks and lip glosses on my hand before purchasing, but the payoff was not always the same as on the lips. This time the sales assistant said that they received some new testers just a few moments ago, so I could test it immediately on my lips and I took the chance, in such a way you can see the real shade and learn if it suits you or not.
After testing 4 or 5 options I settled on the shade No.41.
As soon as I applied it on my lips, I knew it was the right one.
So, I’ve been testing this lipstick for a few months now, so I had a chance to estimate it fully. I’m really excited to bring you this review.

What they promise:
WHAT IT IS:
Our wardrobe of iconic lipsticks deliver rich and luxurious color in satin and matte finishes.
WHAT IT DOES
In just one stroke, luxurious and highly pigmented color dresses the lips with intense hydration and antioxidant care. In a signature couture jewel-like packaging, Rouge Pur Couture delivers the promise of edgy style and ultimate feminine strength.
Design:
The lipstick looks amazing like all YSL products. The case is heavy and glossy. It also has a logo on it. The tube reminds me of a gold bar. I want to use it over and over again.
It’s always a great pleasure to use such a gorgeous lipstick. Moreover, it cheers me up.
I’m sure that not a girl will stay indifferent to such a beauty.
The lipstick comes in a cardboard package with the ingredients, shade and product description indicated on it.
The cap closes tightly, so it won’t pop open in your makeup bag or purse or damage them.
My first impressions:
The formula is very nice, creamy and intense.
The product covers up my natural lip color in the first go, so those who are into semi-sheer coverage will probably not be pleased.
The shade in a tube
The shade in a tube (in the shade)
It glides over my lips with ease and literally melts away without forming clumps or leaving any discernible particles.
A single coat is enough to get an intense payoff, but the color is even deeper when layering. I usually wear two coats.
This is how the shade looks on my hand by daylight and in the sun (1 coat):

The finish is really satin. It’s neither glossy nor matte.
It smoothes out my lip texture and moisturizes it noticeably.
On the plus side, it whitens my teeth and makes my smile look brilliant.
Due to the nice and pliant formula, you can apply this lipstick without any lip liner. It doesn’t bleed or flow. The only thing is that it’s hard to correct any blunders if you make them, so the product is not really suitable for on the go. It should be applied without any haste. I mean you should be calm, concentrated and precise when putting on lip makeup.
Also, it’s noteworthy that the lipstick doesn’t dry out my lips or emphasize any imperfections like flakey bits or lip textures.
As for the cons, the discernible cosmetic fragrance lingers on my lips for quite a while. However, it’s just a personal preference thing, so I’m not going to take away any stars for that.
The wear and staying power
I don’t usually use this lipstick during the day, but I’ve decided to carry out an experiment. I applied it in the morning and had it all day at work.
It looked pretty awkward without an evening look, however
I had three meals and drank about 3 liters of water throughout the day. Meanwhile I was keeping a close eye on the lipstick.
Well, the wear time is a knock-out! Here is a picture after 3 hours:

Here, I drank 4 glasses of water and had a lunch. The satin finish came off a little bit and my lips got matte. The color stuck around and no flakey bit or anything was noticeable on my lips. My lips looked pretty and vibrant.
This is how it looked after 5 hours. Here I ate again, but the color was still vibrant and deep.
after 5 hours
As you can see, the lipstick faded away just a little bit, but didn’t leave any gaps. Moreover, it didn’t crease or settle into my fine lip lines. However, my lips felt a little bit dry at that moment. By the way, this is the reason why I love lip glosses.
So, I wanted to apply a lip balm or a lip gloss.... But I decided to continue the experiment.
Below you can see the results after 8 hours+.
The 8 hour shift at work was over. I ate everything I took with me and drank about 3 liters of water, but the lipstick didn’t go anywhere.
Right, the shade was no longer that bright. My lips looked almost matte and taut yet decent anyway.

I find this result totally satisfying given all the challenges the lipsticks had.
By the way, the pigment stays put for quite a while, so that it’s even a pain in the butt to remove with water completely. Only makeup remover does a good job here.
So, let’s sum it up!
The YSL Rouge Pur Couture Pure Colour Lipstick turned out to be a very decent option, both regarding the shade and the quality.
It’s vibrant, incredibly long-lasting and not drying. Also, it doesn’t accentuate any imperfections. The lipstick comes off from my lips gradually without leaving any clumps or gaps. It has a very nice and creamy texture that melts away on my lips, but doesn’t bleed. The finish is a beautiful satin. I award it with 5 stars and highly recommend it.
