Matte lipsticks have been hyped for a long time, so I want to tell you about some stars among that segment.

My lips are rather problematic. I mean they’re always dry and chapped, so at home and before my lipstick application, I usually apply a lip balm.

The most important things for me when choosing my lip products is that they mustn’t dry out my lips or define skin blemishes if I have any.

The collection of YSL matte lipsticks isn’t really wide but it still includes about 10 shades in there. Moreover, from time to time they please us with some new limited edition shades too.

The design of the YSL makeup has been already praised a thousand times. From me, I can say that I love it and all that gold abundance doesn’t excite or repel me. Smile The casing is made of thick plastic. The stick inside doesn’t shatter around and the cut is perfection for precise application even without a lip liner.

The weight of each lipstick is 3.8g which I think is a lot!

My impressions

The branded lipsticks stand out with their distinctive aroma, which I feel when applying it and I don’t feel when wearing the product, alas.

The texture of the lipsticks wonders me. I mean it’s thin and as though silicone. At the same time, the coverage doesn’t accentuate my lip texture and smoothes out flaking bits a little. They aren’t dry at all. It even feels like they moisten my lips a tad as though I'm wearing a lip balm.

The staying power is average, about 3-5 hours. It’s a little bit better than cream lipsticks but still very far away from matte lippies. The fading is delicate. It starts from my inner lips and then I can easily touch-up but I prefer washing it off fully and applying again. Even if I don’t line it with a lip pencil, the formula doesn’t feather.

The shade after removing can stain my lips.

As for the finish, it’s more like semi-matte. I don’t see any dead matte finish. The coverage looks natural and never cakey.

All the products were applied with 1 thin coat, right from the stick and without a lip liner or a lip balm.

#212 is a cool-toned berry-like shade with a purple undertone. If you pack the coverage, it’ll appear more plum-toned.

#217 is a fabulous fresh shade of pink petals that will flatter any skin color.

#218 is a gentle apricot shade. My favorite nude color.

I’m very pleased with these lipsticks! They are gorgeous in everything!
