Chanel Les Indispensables de L’Ete Cruise Collection Summer 2017 Nail Polish - review

Finally I managed to get a nail polish from the summer cruise collection of Chanel. Let me introduce you: Chanel 560 Coquillage - the color which is bright, bold and pretty unusual for me!

So, Chanel has launched the new limited line of makeup, under the headline of naturalness and freedom. I think it’s great that we finally have nail polishes in summer colors, which are perfect for holidays.

There are 4 nail polishes in the line, but only two of them caught my eye, as they contain that famous shimmer of Chanel.

Coquillage 560 was especially attractive for me, because I dislike warm colors and couldn’t imagine such a hue on my nails. Needless to say, that this one is the first in my collection.

So, what is it? Some say it’s a peach color, others claim it’s apricot. The color is light yet at the same time many-sided and complicated. It combines orange with a drop of cold pink. It’s also far from classic orange or orange carrot. The color cannot be unequivocally called warm, as there’s a cold side in it, which is especially visible in the shadow.

There are tiny shimmer particles in the nail polish, which make it so deep and visible only in bright sunlight. Unfortunately, it’s invisible in the shadows yet it still makes the color glowing and deep.Coquillage means shellfish in French. The name is pretty eccentric for Chanel, but it suits the nail polish. It’s delicate, but also bright, as if lit up from the inside. I associate it with yummy clams that melt in your mouth!Like all Chanel nail polishes, the Coquillage changes its color in different lighting.

 

Under the sun, it looks orange and warm.

In the shadows\artificial lighting, there is a hint of coldness in it, which makes it resemble a fruit ice cream.The nail polish is really eye-catching! Very often, I find myself admiring it. Such a color will perfectly suit any summer clothes, but it’ll be especially gorgeous combined with white garments and accessories. Even though warm hues don’t suit me, the Coquillage looks great on slightly tanned skin, without making it appear red or yellowish.

Now to the technical details:

1. The Coquillage is pretty high-pigmented and covers my nails in two thin layers.Such colors have a common drawback: they apply unevenly. In order to avoid this, apply the Coquillage in a thin layer. Personally I don’t find this drawback so annoying, but I have to be objective so I take half a star off.

2. The brush is kind of odd. It’s thin and smooth, like most Chanel nail polish brushes, but it’s not especially flexible plus it takes too much nail polish out of the bottle. In general, it was pretty hard to paint my nails with it, so I take another half a star off. Ladies who don’t have much experience with all this nail painting stuff will find this brush completely inconvenient.

3. The nail polish dries quickly, in 5 minutes a thin layer is completely dry.

4. Bubbles: it looks like Chanel have fixed their previous mistakes, for the Coquillage doesn’t produce bubbles at all.

5. It’s really glossy, so you can use the top coat only to prolong the lasting power.

6...which is simply super! I’ve been wearing it for 4 days, and the coverage lived through sauna, baths, hair washing, household duties without cracks. Only the nail tips faded a bit.

7. The nail polish removes effortlessly, leaving no stains behind.

So, the Coquillage is really bright and bold! Such colors are pretty rare, and even though I dislike peach shades, I fell in love with the Coquillage (I’m a big fan of clams, by the way.) Definitely recommended!
