Pros: a little goes a long way, good cleanser, refreshes my skin
Cons: irritates my eyes

I’m sure that many of you have heard of Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser. Even though it isn’t a new product on the market, I still want to make a review of it, as I found a good way how to use it.

Non-drying, creamy cleanser removes impurities, make-up and excess oil while respecting skin’s natural moisture balance. Almond cottonseed extract possesses emollient attributes, a skin conditioner. Gentle formula neutralizes the drying effects of hard water. Rinses easily with cool water.

This is how a humble description of the product looks like. The product suits normal skin without giving it tightening feelings and it’s very refreshing.

Packaging

Made in France

Size 125 ml

Price $26-27

The product is packed in a convenient tube, which isn’t stable by the way. The design is simple and really is reminiscent of any other Clarins products. The tube is made of matte plastic with a flip-top cap. The cap is a disaster. I think that in the photo you can see that the cap goes deep in the bottle taking the product out. It looks muddy and wastes the product. Yet, I got used to that and now don’t even think about it.

Initially the cap was sealed with a transparent tape and the tube was placed in a card box. That’s very wise of the manufacturer as the buyer can be sure that nobody had opened the tube before him or her.

Ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Myristic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Dimethicone, Lauric Acid, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Tipa-Laureth Sulfate, Glycol Distearate, Glyceryl Behenate, Ozokerite, Parfum/Fragrance, Propylene Glycol, Tetrasodium Edta, Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide, Polymnia Sonchifolia Root Juice, Maltodextrin, Gossypium Herbaceum (Cotton) Seed Extract, Gypsophila Paniculata Root Extract, Lactobacillus, Potassium Sorbate, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Bh, Benzyl Salicylate, Butylphenyl, Methylpropional, Limonene, Linalool, Ci7789/Titanium Dioxide.

Product characteristics:

Generally speaking I confess that I’m more into facial cleansers that are gel-like. This product is completely different. Because of its consistency it reminds me of Korean facial cleansers that are supposed to be lathered with bubble foaming nets.

The consistency is thick and gooey but at the same time a little bit runny, I mean when I open the cap, there’s a bit of the product stretching out from the cap. I’ve already mentioned this imperfection of the packaging. To avoid this problem I simply store my tube horizontally.

Once the cleanser contacts water it transforms into a thick foam, the amount of which will depend on the method of use and water hardness.

The worst option to use this product is to apply it straight on your face and rub it with your hands. There won’t be enough of foam for good cleansing and besides you’ll feel your skin squeak under your fingers because you literally degrease your face. And that isn’t all. If the product will get into your eyes, they’ll feel like they're on fire, it’s very unpleasant.

To cut a long story short - don't even try to remove your eye make-up with this product.

One more interesting thing about this product is its scent. It’s odd, like of many other products by Clarins. It reminds me of some kind of a shaving foam. It isn’t annoying or anything, I got used to that. But now I clearly understand WHAT makes my skin feel so refreshed.

Use

One would think- why should I have a cleanser that can’t be used as a traditional face wash with hands and irritates my eyes? And the answer is to use it with a brush! For those who wash their faces with konjac sponges or brushes or with the help of any other bubble foaming nets - this product will become a fave!

The cleanser is very easy to lather on the sonic brush. So the brush glides better and the bristles don’t feel as rough as before, which used to be a common practice with face gel cleansers.

I also appreciate the fact that the foam doesn’t run down my arms. It’s thick and well.

All in all, it’s logical that I won’t use my brush to remove eye make-up, so the problem described above was solved easily for me.

The spending of the product is very low, as the brush creates a rich foam even from a pea-sized drop of the product that removes any residue of my make-up.

I want to show you the way Clarins product and some other gel are lathering. The difference is in the fact that a usual gel’s foam isn’t stable and it runs down my arms, neck, and gets into my eyes - everywhere. Using the gel I feel every bristle of my brush. I could have never thought that it’ll depend on the facial cleanser I use.

And these are the photos of how the Clarins product removes foundation with a brush.

Impressions

I’ve been using this foaming cleanser for quite a while already and I can say the following: during the time of use I've never experienced any irritation or my skin break down. I’ve never had any dry feelings. My skin is always silky to the touch and squeaky clean. I got used to the odd aroma and now it even enhances the clean skin feeling. This product is a great thing, even though there are some who won’t like it.

I will recommend Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed and I’ll probably stop looking for a better face cleanser, even though I’m sure that Clarins will come up with an even better product.

Thanks for your attention Smile
