Earlier, I used to neglect the face cleansing part of my care routine. I could apply a thick layer of makeup in the morning and swipe my face with micellar water in the evening and be sure my skin is totally clean. I shudder when I think about it now!
Of course, I had a lot of pimples and blind pimples. At this moment, however, my skin has improved drastically. I think it’s largely because I managed to find a nice face wash with a right pH level. There it is, COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser.
The gel comes in a simple tube, which I like because I trust such a simple-looking housing. On the backside, one can find the information both in Korean and English.
Here are the ingredients:
Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate, Polysorbate 20, Styrax Japonicus Branch/Fruit/Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Saccharomyces Ferment, Cryptomeria Japonica Leaf Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Leaf Extract, Pinus Palustris Leaf Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Flower Extract, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Allantoin, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Betaine Salicylate, Citric Acid, Ethyl Hexanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Sodium Benzoate, Disodium EDTA
I was glad to find tea tree oil there, because it is known for its antibacterial properties and the effect it has on problematic skin with pimples.
Also, there are BHA-acids that are gentle face exfoliators and can control sebum which is essential for oily and problematic skin.
But what attracted me the most is the low pH level. The point is, all these skin imperfections appear mostly because of the wrong pH level of the skin, so it’s really important to use such a face wash to achieve and maintain healthy-looking skin.
There is this little nozzle which dispenses the right amount of the face gel.
It’s pretty thick and isn’t runny, but you need a lot of water to make it lather.
The smell of tea tree oil is somewhat peculiar. It’s nice but I don’t think everybody would like it.
The product promises gentle and flawless cleansing.
And I think it delivers what it promises. It’s not what they call ‘squeaky clean skin’, no, it’s just clean. I don’t have the feeling of ‘not entirely fresh skin’. It’s well balanced and I like it.
My skin doesn’t feel dry or tight. Of course, I use a moisturizer but I don’t have the urge to apply a bucket of a nourishing cream after using this.
I can totally say that I have less pimples now. Of course, I have changed a lot in my skin care regimen, but I think this gel has played the biggest part in my skin improvement. I have less painful blind pimples now that tended to leave scars behind.
Of course I cannot say that my skin is flawless and pimple-free now, but its condition has improved dramatically thanks to this gel cleanser.
Also, I have to mention that I don’t recommend using this gel in the eye area. Maybe my eyes are too sensitive but I think applying tea tree oil to that area isn’t a good idea. I tried once, though, and it prickled like hell and my eyes were itchy.
By the way, this gel shouldn’t be used as makeup remover, for obvious reasons.
The bottom line: I’ve been using this for 3 months and I can say with certainty that it works. It helps against pimples without making my skin feel dry or tight, and I don’t need rich nourishing creams anymore.
I fell in love with this gel cleanser, and I can totally recommend it for those who care of their skin and look for a gentle yet effective face wash!
