I keep saying on and on that acids are a miracle for our skin, as they are the only products that can really improve our skin condition and appearance. They are also good helpers when you need to fight this or that skin problem. The most important thing is to use the acids right and smart.

My skincare routine has been full of acids for a few years now. I winter I prefer using the Medical Collagene 3D Easy Peel glycolic peeling 10% which I’m absolutely raving about. But we all know that it’s better not use peeling acid products in summer when the sun is very active, as there’s a risk of getting pigmentation. Since I really like the results the acids show on my skin, I’m not actually ready to put aside any peeling products for more than 6 months. So for me I found the solution - which is the Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution.

My first order from the official website turned out to be great as I also discovered the Buffet Peptide Serum by the brand which I’m totally delighted with and I’m planning to carry on using it when I repurchase.

Price $8.70

SIZE - 240ml.

The bottle with the content is made of plastic. There were two top caps provided with the product: one is screw on and another has a nozzle.

It would be logical to use the nozzle top cap as it’s more convenient but it’s very difficult to screw the top from the nozzle for me. I can’t do it well since I care about my nails.

This is why I tossed the nozzle and started using the regular cap.

The product doesn’t have any outstanding SMELL.

So, there are two main types of acids to take care of our skin. They are AHA and BHA. They affect the skin differently, hence they show different results and hit different targets.

Fruit acids AHA (Alpha hydroxy acids). Most frequently these are:

  • glycolic acid;

  • lactic acid;

  • almond acid;

  • tartaric acid

As water-soluble substances, they are unable to penetrate deeper than the lipid layer and act on the surface of the skin removing dead cells. This means that their use helps us to speed up the process of rejuvenating the skin, getting rid of minor blemishes like acne scars, fine wrinkles and pigmentation.

Unfortunately, they still aren’t able to create miracles and can't rid us of already expressed wrinkles and deep and chronic pigmentation.

BHA acids

(beta hydroxy acids) - salicylic acid.

As a fat-soluble substance, it is able to penetrate deeper into the pores, partially dissolving the sebum. It means that the salicylic acid is best used to combat inflammation, clogged pores, and oily skin.

This toning solution is infused with AHA acid.

It’s also very important to consider the combination of acid concentration and the pH level in the product.

Here we have 7% of the acid and 3.6 pH level which is a perfect mixture for the skin.

They advise to use the product overnight, and not more than just once a day.

I use this toning solution 2 times a week in the PM over my dry and clean skin. I use a cotton pad to apply the product all over my face and neck. Sometimes I get close to the eye area (not very close, of course, but near the bone, I’d say). It’s understandable that the product is leave-on and I don’t rinse it off. I wait for a couple of minutes more and after that I start to apply all the other skin care products.

It might tingle a little during application, especially if you have small skin irritation or damages. In general I can say that there aren’t any discomforting feelings for me while using this product. My skin doesn’t become red or irritated. But at the same time I guess that my skin has already gotten used to different acids that I use and this toning solution is very mild for it.

First of all it is necessary to say that my skin is prone to dryness and dehydration, on the nose my skin is oily and very prone to clogging pores.

In terms of exfoliation, this product is much milder than my usual peeling after which my skin feels super smooth and supple in the morning. After the use of this toning solution, my skin also feels very smooth, even after I apply my face cream but in the morning there isn’t such a sensation anymore.

Actually I want to say that this toning solution is a good supportive product which won’t work wonders with your skin overnight.

But I bought it for spring and summer and I’m absolutely delighted with the mild effect it shows on my skin. It really helps me to maintain my skin in a more or less normal condition. I tossed my face scrubs long ago so as not to irritate my skin with them, but still it is necessary to remove dead cells from the surface.

My skin is tend to couperose, as I have a small blood vessel on my nose. Acid peels and this toning solution in particular didn’t provoke its growth in any way, contrary to the rough physical methods of exfoliation (scrubs, sponges).

I recommend this toning solution but only after you test your skin to check whether it’s ready for the use of acids or not. I also highly recommend you use the SPF infused products especially if the sun is very active where you live.

Thanks for your attention! I hope that my review was informative for you!
