Greetings!
I received the Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen by Clinique as a gift for an online purchase on the official site.
And now I can say the following: as soon as I started using this product I understood what exactly was wrong with it. So let’s get started:
GENERAL INFORMATION: Made in Japan
Size: 2ml
Price: $21 that’s a lot for 2 ml
Expires within 6 months after opening
Where to buy: beauty stores, official site
DESIGN:
The liner was packed in a cardboard box.
The box was very colorful and bright. All the Clinique products are usually packed in such boxes.
The product itself is made in the shape of a pen with a rather long applicator.
Thanks to this applicator you'll be able to create the thinnest flicks ever.
INGREDIENTS:
As any other product by Clinique, this one is fragrance-free.
TEXTURE AND COLOR:
Texture-wise the product is runny. The color is black.
USE:
I’ve been using the product for 3 months and I use it standard way - to line my eyes.
RESULT
It’s interesting but from the first days the product was awful. It gave patchy color which is seen in the photo below:
To get more a less decent result I had to layer it. Actually that was the first time I saw an eyeliner that needed to be layered. And that was so inconvenient. Whoever will want to layer eyeliner?
It becomes so difficult to line the eyes from the first time and nobody will like to line them 2 or 3 times to get opaque black coverage.
One more con about the product is that it smudges. Two layers take a much longer time to dry out, that’s why the risk of smudging it is very high.
And here are my megaflicks made with this super product:
They might look okay if you don’t come close.
But if you do, you'll see all the mishaps. To get good coverage I have to line my eyes several times which is why I usually end up with my flicks being very thick.
Only professionals or girls who are gurus in making the flicks will do well with this product by Clinique.
I’m not a professional or a guru either.
The color doesn't look bold.
On my oily eyelids this liner doesn't hold up and imprints on the upper lids. By the end of the day it crumbles which looks terrible. And the smudging occurs even in winter. I’m scared to imagine what I might look like with this product on during the summer when it’s boiling hot.
It doesn’t want to draw over the eyeshadows. I couldn't make it show the color over the Clinique eye pencil. So, the product is to be worn solo on the eyes.
No problems with washing it off. There are no issues, as it comes off easily with face cleansers or any make-up removers.
All the Clinique products are ophthalmologist tested and can be used by people with sensitive eyes.
This product never provokes allergic reactions which is a definite advantage.
The product isn’t waterproof, so it’s better not get caught in the rain with it on. Though I can see the positive sides here: if you made a mistake applying it you can quickly correct it with a Q-tip.
OVERALL: Considering all the pluses and minuses of the product I can say: the product is bad. Very bad. For the time that I’ve been using it and it hasn’t got dried, for being suitable for people with sensitive eyes, I can give it 2 stars. But I’ll never recommend buying it.
I hope that you’ve found my review interesting! If you have any questions, ask them below.
All the best!
