I’m a huge fan of the Estee Lauder brand. They offer awesome skin care products and their iconic foundation Double Wear has been in my makeup bag for several years already. And still, I’m ready to sing praises to it. I also have a concealer from the same collection and the Double Wear Light foundation.
I was looking and sighing at this new product from them for quite a long time. First of all, I had already had a perfect foundation for me, which was Double Wear. But still, I wanted some other products as well to try out something new. And secondly, I had already had a cushion from Lancome, which I was completely dissatisfied with.
“This is Estee Lauder! They can’t release a bad product!” - this is exactly what I was thinking about when I saw it discounted. It was impossible to withstand and I bought this cushion.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Cushion BB!
I have it in the shade 1N2 Ecru.
Yeah, the packaging looks dope and sleek at the same time.
The cushion offers a handy mirror. The sponge is rather good in quality. However, I still don’t use it.
Taking the ball before the bound I want to say that the brand doesn’t produce any replaceable refills. I take off a star for that.
No refill is not only non-economic but also not eco-friendly at all. I wish they were more environmentally friendly and didn’t waste too much plastic.
Inside you’ll find a standard cushion sponge, which is soaked with a fluid foundation. This time it’s a BB cream.
It is obvious that the cushion offers less formula than a regular foundation. A standard tube usually has 30 ml, while here it has only 12!!! That is almost 2.5 times lesser, while the price is still high and equal to any other regular-sized foundation.
I mean, buying this cushion, be ready that it won’t go a long way. Besides, you’ll also have to splurge on it.
The texture of the product is runny and watery. The cushion releases the formula well on the sponge.
The shade here is fairer than the classy 1N2 of Double Wear. Its undertone is neutral and pink-tone free.
ABOUT MY SKIN
it’s mixed
enlarged pores
freckled
I use foundations on a daily basis. First of all because of my sensitive skin which doesn’t feel comfortable without any coverage. And secondly, my job requires perfect and neat make up every day. That’s why I’m very picky about all my foundations.
I use different products as a base for my foundations - a moisturizer or two different types of primers from Smashbox (one of them is hydrating and another one is mattifying) and the result always looks the same on my skin.
On the left you can see my skin covered with the foundation. On the right is my nude skin. I appreciate how smooth my skin tone is.
The application is fuss-free, the product sets within a couple of minutes and then there’s some time to blend out my cream contouring product over it. By the way, I use a beautyblender, not the featured sponge for blending.
And this is my full-on makeup. I love how glowing from within my skin is with it. At the same time the product doesn’t budge or travel down. Look how glowing it is!
The coverage seems perfected. However, it’s a cushion, which means that its coverage isn’t high and it’s able to conceal my freckles only on the second go.
My skin looks flawless even from a close distance - it looks like it’s been filtered and highlighted from within.
The glow there is truly beautiful. The product doesn’t settle into my pores and my skin is so sleek with it.
And this is what my skin looks like within 3-4 hours of wearing the cushion. The coverage is too obvious. Besides, it seems to be fading with ugly patches.
My freckles become even more visible. The product starts setting into my pores and defining all flaking patches, which I hadn’t had before.
In a word, my skin doesn't look good with it anymore, given that it’s been only 3-4 hours of wearing. The classy Double Wear foundation is able to live through 12 hours on my skin and look better after that time.
This cushion is my disappointment. The price for it is too high and the results leave much to be desired.
This product is not for my skin type for sure.
