I bought this foundation three months ago. At first I bought the light version, but I didn’t like the coverage and I decided to opt for Estee Lauder Double Wear. There aren’t many people who love the thick and full-coverage foundations, and I agree with them. I don’t like to use thick foundations daily, especially if there’s alcohol in the ingredients. For this reason I had to turn down the Guerlain Parure Extreme foundation. But, there are sometimes the occasions when you have to be sure that your make-up will stay on the whole day, and even night if needed. For these special occasions I definitely need the full coverage, and for such cases I have the Estee Lauder Double Wear. And I can assure you that in terms of the ingredients, staying power and coverage it’s really the best of all.

My skin. It’s combination, close to normal, rather than oily, I’d say. Sometimes I have breakouts. For some special occasions I use the full-coverage and long-lasting foundations, but I use light fluids on a daily basis. I took before and after photos when my skin wasn’t in its best condition for you to see the coverage.
I decided to compare the two foundations by Estee Lauder. There are probably some people who can’t decide which one to choose, so I hope that my comparison will be helpful.
COLORS:
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light has 4 colors in its range. I have it in 20 beige, as 3 was too dark and 1 too light for me. I wouldn't say it’s 100% my color, that matches me well, but it matches most of all among the other ones.

DESIGN
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light has flat plastic tube with a thin tip. If we compare it with some beautiful, sophisticated glass bottles by the other high end brands, this one looks trivial and simple. But, at the same time, such tube will be very handy while travelling, as it’s light and convenient.

Estee Lauder Double Wear has a beautiful heavy glass bottle with a golden cap. It looks more presentable. But, there’s no pump. I’ve heard that many people don’t like it, but for me it’s not a problem, as I pour some amount of the foundation on the back of my palm, and then use a brush to apply it. Yes, it may take more time, but so what?

For me they smell the same. They have very light, pleasant aroma (no flowers and complicated perfume compositions)

CONSISTENCY
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light is thick and if you turn the arm with it on, it’ll stay in a place. At first I thought that it was fatty. I know that tastes differ, but I’m more into liquid textures, Double Wear Light sits tightly on the brush and is difficult to blend.

Estee Lauder Double Wear is more liquid and economical. It’s way easier to apply and blend.

COVERAGE
If you apply Estee Lauder Double Wear Light with a wedged brush, it’ll give too thick of coverage and a mask wearing effect. It’s better to apply it with your fingertips and dabbing moves and blend the difficult zones with the brush then. Be careful and apply this foundation only after you made sure that your face care cream has fully sank in, otherwise, they’ll mix and you’ll end up looking awful. It takes some time for Double Wear to set, as straight after the application you skin may look oily. But 15 mins later, you’ll see the powder finish and glowing skin, as there are a lot light reflecting mica in. It won’t adjust to your skin tone, just create a coverage on the skin surface, so be careful choosing your right color.

Estee Lauder Double Wear is not easy-to-use and applies with the brush or fingertips well. It sets way faster and can be applied straight after the face care cream. It gives full coverage, but no mask wearing effect. It adjusts to the skin tone a bit and evens it out perfectly well. The finish is powdery. But at the same time the face glows with health thanks to reflecting mica.

CONCEALING POWER
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, despite the fact that the coverage is thick and full, has quite an average concealing power. It won’t conceal some great blemishes. If I apply too much it can define my pores around the nose. It’s better to apply the powder when the cream is fully set and the skin is matte.

Estee Lauder Double Wear gives 100% coverage. It’ll hide all the blemishes and it’s buildable, so it can be layered on the problem areas and without giving you the mask wearing feeling. It’s better to powder in a minute or two after the application.

With Estee Lauder Double Wear Light my skin becomes oily in 3 hours in summer

STAYING POWER
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light stains my phone, collars, but stays on and doesn’t slide off about 8-10 hours. I consider it as a good result, almost as promised 15 hours.

Estee Lauder Double Wear stays on way longer. It may stay on forever. On me it lasts about 12 hours, doesn’t slide off or fade on the skin. It’s doesn't oxidize or gets darker. It stains my phone too, but only in summer.

Both foundations don’t make my skin look flaky. They don’t settle in wrinkles but Estee Lauder Double Wear Light makes my pores appear larger, while Estee Lauder Double Wear doesn’t
SUM UP
Estee Lauder Double Wear is better in all the respects thаn its “light” version, which is actually much more “difficult” in application and finish. The foundation will suit:
-those who wear such heavy-textured products every day. It doesn’t have any alcohol in the ingredients. I pair it with the Guerlain Parure Extreme in their technical characteristics
-it’ll also suit to those who value the staying, concealing and mattifying powers. In these aspects, this foundation is ideal, when compared with any other foundation I’ve ever tried
-it’ll be ideal for any special occasion and photo shoots
- it’ll be great for oily and combi skin.
