I’ve been thinking of this review for a while and finally I’ve managed to collect my thoughts. I got a rather controversial opinion on the famous matte lipsticks from Huda Beauty, and now I’ll try to sort out the details.
First of all, my lipsticks are 100% genuine. I bought them in a set in the form of lovely lips, which caught my eyes immediately.
I chose two colors from four available, the lightest and most wearable ones, because I don’t like darker shades.
As for the full-size lipsticks, there are 16 available on the website.
Well, my review will be about Bombshell and Muse
Each set contains a mini-version of the lipstick with 1,9 ml and costs $40.
When my lipsticks arrived, I was in a state of total euphoria and was ready to apply them everyday. If I wrote a review at that moment, I would have given them 5 stars, no doubt. But luckily I decided to wait.
I’ve been testing the lipsticks for 2 months now.
The lipstick comes in a beautiful package, which is of plastic, though looks like glass. The cap is plastic too.
The applicator is very handy. First of all, I love the ultra-soft stuff it’s made of; second of all, I love its form that allows to draw lip contours as precisely as possible. You don’t need a lip liner with it!
I’m totally happy with the design of this lipstick and gladly give it 5 stars.
Characteristics of the lipstick itself
The formula is extraordinarily creamy, I’ve never tried out anything like this before. The scent is very pleasant: sweet, vanilla with a bit of marshmallow, it makes you want to lick your lips again and again.
The lipstick perfectly applies from the first stroke. You don’t have to layer it, there are no gaps or uneven patches, everything is just perfect.
It doesn’t look plaster-like, like many other lipsticks do. The finish isn’t totally matte, I’d even say, it’s a bit velvety. No setting in the little wrinkles, no accentuating of lip relief.
When I first tried it, I thought a lipstick couldn’t be better! It was so soft and easy to apply; it softened all cracks on the lips and looked like a creamy mousse on a cake.
The lipstick doesn’t require any time to dry, it applies perfectly and stays perfect...But only in the first 30 minutes.
And here comes the worst part. The lipstick dries out the lips, makes them look cracked and horrible. Horrendous.
Don’t even think of smiling with this lipstick on - those around you will be scared, and that’s not all.
Not only does it looks awful, the feeling, too, leaves much to be desired! Wearing this lipstick feels like a month-long trip to a desert! Dry, very dry, unbearably dry!
After a half an hour of wearing this lipstick I want to run and wash it off, and then apply some nourishing remedy!
Despite it, Huda Beauty Lipsticks are extremely long lasting and survive not only water or tea, but also meals.
After a while, the lipstick starts looking patchy, but it's almost invisible with a naked eye. It doesn’t matter whether the lips were prepped or not, the formula itself creates these patches.
But even if the lips are cracked, the lipstick somehow manages to smoothen and soften them. This is the only matte lipstick of mine which doesn’t require a lip scrub or balm before application.

My thoughts and photos on the lips
Both shades are similar in everything but color, and share the same advantages and disadvantages.
Muse is my fave. I love this shade and want to repurchase it even despite its significant downsides. It’s dusty rose, classic and cold.
Bombshell looked less impressive on the website, and I expected it to be a light beige with a gentle orange undertone, but I got something reddish, I’d say, it’s an eyesore. Well, let’s call it: not-too-mild terracota.
Now I suggest we break away from reading and proceed to the part where I show the lipstick on my lips.

I think the photos show all pros and cons. The lipstick doesn’t smudge and can be easily touched up if necessary.
The makeup removing is not a big problem. One will need a micellar water or cleansing oil.
I’ve been using these lipsticks for two months, and only spent 1\4 of the bullets. I apply them 3-4 times a week, or even daily.
That’s how the lipstick looks after a while:
In this photo, all cons and pros are clearly seen:
It’s painful to smile, and people may be scared if they see it.
I have a life hack, though. When the lipstick starts to dry out my lips, I apply a moisturizing balm or a lip gloss over it, and it works!
- extremely pleasant creamy formula
- pleasant scent
- applies perfectly even onto unprepared lips
- doesn’t emphasize dryness
- doesn’t smudge
- has a beautiful velvety finish
- doesn’t eat into the lips
- can be removed with any makeup removed
- excellent pigmentation
- gorgeous longevity, survives even a meal
- after a while, it starts drying lips.
- may look patchy, though not always.
The lipstick deserves three stars. But despite all the cons it has, I love it! I also want to order more shades!
Recommended only to Huda fans. All the others - don’t waste your money, it’s not worth it.
