It’s been already two months since I told myself that I’ve got too many cosmetics and it’s high time to declutter a little.
But I couldn’t bear it when I saw this Venus XS.
Holiday limited edition. I was sighing at it for two days until my husband told me not to suffer and buy it. And now I’ve got it!
Lime Crime Venus XS Rose Gold Palette
Lime Crime Venus XS Rose Gold eyeshadow palette:
Like all the other eyeshadow palettes from the Venus collection, this one is also packed with a thick cardboard material. The top cap is magnetic and rather tight.
The palette is of a gentle pink color, as though old-looking and the Venus image is metallic here, so it was rather difficult to take a shot of it.
Venus here is so classy and beautiful.

Even though the palette has only 4 refills, it’s still pretty big. Initially, the palette was covered with a tape.

Mirror… Well, no mirror here. Maybe they decided to save some money. Whatever. I’ve already stopped using those palette mirrors when doing my makeup.
As for the bad, I can list that over time the palette will wear out because after all, it’s made of cardboard.

The back of the palette shows the ingredients list, the country of the manufacturer and the names of the colors. There are 4 refills. 1.67g each.
It took me rather long to decide on which palette to choose and finally I stopped on the Rose Gold one.

Let’s have a closer look at them all. And here I want to ask to keep in mind that they open up on the skin much better rather than what they appear in the refill.
Lime Crime Venus XS Rose Gold Palette
Angelic - gentle pink matte shade, which seems to be too boring in the refill and too brown. It’s excellent quality-wise and it shows moderate dusting.

Divinity - gilded metallic shade. It applies so nicely, even if the brush isn’t good and it’ll fall out only if you swipe it here and there too much. And the color…well, it’s better to look at it in swatches and makeup.

Charm - This is the Charming prince of the palette. One more metallic shade with a pink undertone. Here it looks like real rose gold. It may appear like the Divinity shade, but this one makes my heart beat faster. It’s absolutely stunning, even though it looks so plain in the refill.
Lime Crime Venus XS Rose Gold Palette
Eternal - saturated pink-brown matte pigment. It’s a little bit dusty and finely pigmented. It’s great for the dark outer Vs and the crease but still, I find it too fair for the smokey eyes. But this palette is for day-to-day wear, so it’ll be enough for darkening anyway.

Once you touch the refills with your fingers, you’ll immediately understand why they cherish this brand so much. They are so soft as a feather and the pigments jump on perfectly well. The gilded metallic shades are as creamy by touch!

Now, let’s pass over to the swatches. I applied them with a flat pony dry brush. On the one side of my hand over the Clarins primer (that funny yellow spot is actually the primer).

Under artificial lights:

Over the UD primer with a pathetic synthetic brush, which is already calling for a trash bin:

The colors open up differently on my skin to what I see in the palette. The refills look plain but when I apply them on my eyes they definitely win me over.
Let’s start with a simple one. Here I used a little bit of Divinity (2) and blended out to the crease with the Angelic shade (1):

I also used some Divinity for the lower lid. Even though there’s a rose gold shade, which is known for making eyes look tired, this makeup looks so wearable.

It requires a darker lipstick, not a regular nude one.

Let’s get a little bit darker?
The Charm shade (3) is all over the mobile lid and Eternal (4) is in the crease:

Why not try it out with a beautiful vibrant lippie?

Let’s use 3 shades at once?
Divinity (2) is all over my mobile lid, the crease is done with the Angelic (1) shade and I also added some Charm (3) for the outer Vs.

I defined my lower lid with the Charm shade. And here’s a paradox - this color doesn’t make my eyes appear red or anything. On the contrary, they look so beautiful and nice…

The full-on makeup look reveals all the beauty and tenderness of the palette. I adore it.

What about matte? Easy-breezy! We have 2 matte shades here. Angelic (1) is over my mobile lid and I did the crease with the Eternal (4) shade:

It looks bold and bright. But I think it’s okay to wear on a daily basis.
Lime Crime Venus XS Rose Gold Palette
The palette is such a great adornment of my eyeshadow collection. I’ve got so many lipsticks which are so matchy with it.

And I also want to show you the most beautiful makeup, which I managed to create with it.
Again, there are only two shades used: Divinity (2) is all over my mobile lid and Eternal (4) is in the crease and lower lid.
Lime Crime Venus XS Rose Gold Palette
This combo looks even brighter than the matte makeup. But still, it’s so wearable. I adore it!

Here I don’t want to accentuate my lips and instead of a lipstick, I used a lip oil, it’s so lip-friendly.

She is gorgeous, my Venus! Just divine!
The matte colors are so pigmented, they are soft and easy to blend out.
I have to admit that they both are a little bit dusty, though it isn’t critic-worthy (it’s critical when I have to wash my keyboard after doing my makeup)
The shining couple is my love! They are almost creamy by touch and their glow is fantastic. They sit on the skin as glued and they’ll lose their shimmer only if you try to wipe off your eyes for good. The palette is so easy to work with. It can bear everything, even shitty brushes. The blending is fuss-free and the pigmentation is so bold, that I can even forget about the dewy brush application.
And yeah, they’re so matchy. You can apply all the colors and use no logic for color combination and your makeup will still look fantastic.
I just can’t stop using this palette. I even had to re-think my Project Pan because I put all my other palettes aside and use this one as much as possible.
It’s a perfect basic eyeshadow palette.
Even though I dislike pink color, I’m happy now that I chose this very palette from the collection. Even if you’re a newbie, you’ll still manage to use it.
In fact, I believe that the eyeshadow staying power completely depends on the eyeshadow primer, with some exceptions, though. I have UD primer, which is my all-time fave and my eyeshadows stay put for 15-hours over it.

The palette is a hit! It’s fantastic and that’s it! Starting from the palette and finishing with the formula of the eyeshadows. The colors, their softness and color selection make me forget and forgive its minor sin of dusting.
Now I can see the reason behind them claiming that the pink shade is versatile and wearable. I use this palette for 2 weeks and I can already say that it’s no way worse than the UD Basic 2 palette.
It’s a good day-to-day use palette.
Yes, there aren’t many colors to choose from, but honestly, who uses a hundred shades on a daily basis? Eyeshadow palette worshipers?
In the end, I’ve left with the question - do I need to buy one more palette for me? >_<
Well, maybe I don’t. But not because of this one but just because I won’t be able to decide on which one to choose in the morning…
Well, probably I need that gray one as well… Yes, I can never get enough…
