I love Lime Crime and their eyeshadow palettes and today I want to tell you about a new limited edition by the brand, namely about the Venus XS palette, which is available in three variations: Gold, Rose Gold and Silver.
My inner collector wasn’t much impressed with the promotional video, until I managed to visit a store and touch them all. My heart leaped when I saw the Silver Palette.
The packaging of this little one is different from the full-sized Venus. For instance, there is no mirror. Usually I don’t use included mirror, but in this case, I truly miss one. The palette closes loudly with magnet latches.
On the backside one can find all the information as well as the names of the colors:
There are four shades with different formulas. Let me show you them all:
Crescent is a lovely cold matte shade, which I love to apply onto my mobile lid and crease.
Sterling is an interesting metallic with tiny golden particles.
Luminous is my favorite. It allows to conjure a quick and beautiful makeup. I can’t think of any dupes in other palettes.
Plated is cold and matte, and I couldn’t tame it. It’s hard to blend and it shows spots.
Looks with this palette:
Matte smokey eyes makeup with Crescent and Plated:
Luminous on the mobile lid, Crescent in the crease and Plated in the outer corner of the eye.
The palette left me a bit disappointed, though. I could have created many more looks, if not for the complicated shade Plated.
I have no complaints about the durability, the eyeshadows last throughout the whole day (I always use a primer). I have ambivalent feelings about this. I love the colors, and if you are looking for cold grey colors, give this a try, but be prepared for difficulties.
