Hello there! 🤗
I’d like to start off saying that I love matte lipsticks regardless of the trends or seasons. After meeting the Make Up For Ever brand, I decided to pay attention to their ARTIST LIQUID MATTE lipsticks which promise:
Ultra-matte, super comfortable to wear and transfer-proof lipsticks: perfect to create unique expressions of color for a magical wear.
About the set
I bought the lipsticks with this Enchanted Lip Book.
On one hand, it hooked me with its interesting outer appearance and on the other, with its noteworthy shades: 105, 205, 306, 407 and yeah, the price was like for 2 standalone lipsticks, indeed. 😁
Finally, a comfortable liquid lipstick with intense color in an ultra-matte finish. With concentrated pigments, Artist Liquid Matte provides truly matte, saturated color payoff with a lightweight feel. Its unique formula boasts beeswax for long-lasting wear and avocado oil for soft, nourished lips. It's an ultra-matte, liquid lipstick with high color payoff and 20-hour, comfortable wear. Its precise applicator coats and defines every peak and valley of your lips to perfection.
The cover of the “enchanted book” is a thick paper of an off-gray color with an abundance of silver glitter. It’s adorned with the famous logo and 💋 + the name of the set. Also, you can find some basic info on the products and their ingredients:
Under the cover, we have the Enchanted Book itself. The same as the cover design-wise but here it feels more sophisticated.
The paper of the book is thicker and when I open or close it, I know it’s got the magnets. However, the back of it has an elastic band:
And here we have them: placed over a white stand, 4 shades of the Artist Liquid Matte lipsticks.
It’s see-through and plastic. The design is minimal, elegant and compact with a silver branded logo as well.
The bottom part reveals the sticker with the shade name, the size and manufacturer brief info.
The products from the set are full sized and offer 2.5ml of the formula.
Made in Italy.
Under the black screw-on top, you’ll find a clamper:
with an applicator attached to it:
It’s handy and soft:
It’s a little bit narrower to the tip and slanted, so the lippie is convenient to apply and spread, filling in my lips.
The stopper 👇 wipes away the unwanted amount of the product but still, the applicator remains covered with an abundance of the formula.
The products are very well packed with pigments. When I apply them, the formula is resilient and spreads softly. It doesn't feather or bleed.
The coverage is thin yet smooth and even.
After application, it may appear glossy: 👇
It sets within some time and turns matte 👇
The matte finish isn’t at all dead matte but really soft and delicate.
I can tell you some more details about all the 4 shades:
Usually, I apply it over my hydrated lips:
This way, they are smoother and the lipsticks apply better.
I even bought a special booster for that from MUFE.
I’ve already mentioned its comfortable wear and application, convenient applicator and nice stopper, so it’s time to mention some skills for smooth application and not time-consuming process if your lips aren’t chapped or flaking.
I coat my lower lip first and then do the upper one. I try not to press them so as to let the product set.
After setting, the product doesn’t tug my lips or edges and stays put with an elastic finish.
I found out that after setting, the product stops reacting to water.
For instance, here’s a picture of my lips with some thermal water.
Some time after application, the coverage still looks decent 👇,
The only difference happens on my inner lip.☝️
So, it’s possible to have a meal with this lipstick on but very carefully. However, if you don’t bother, the coverage would look this way after having a meal:
It will be easy to touch-up. The newly applied coat will merge into the old one ☝️
Since the product is long-wearing, you’ll have to use special makeup removers to wash it off. Have a look at the swatches on my hand:
The first one, the coverage after micellar water. Almost no difference here,
the second one, a facial cleanser. I can see some sort of reaction, yet still, the product is still on,
the third one is my bi-phase makeup remover from Clinique. It washes off my makeup quickly and easily but not from my hand😁.
I use it to wash off the lipsticks. I pat a cotton round soaked with the remover for 10 seconds on my lips and then take off the leftovers of the product.
Usually, I use 2 cotton rounds on one go.
After that, my lips are the same as before. And it’s even more important for me that none of the shades tint my lips afterwards.
About the shades
You already know that I have 4 shades from the set.
I’ve already shown you the shade #205 👇 ☝️
The other three ones:
A vibrant vinous shade which shifts to dark brown when I apply it with 2 layers:
All 4 products are the same in characteristics, except for the shade, surely 😁. They’re all super pleasant to wear.
Even though I adore matte lipsticks, not all of them or from all the brands are my faves. These ones are great!
Still, I have only 4 shades but these are already enough to assess their quality, comfort, use, pigmentation and wear time.
They all offer awesome applicators and I do enjoy using them.
It’s a noteworthy disadvantage that like many other matte lipsticks in general, these ones from Artist LIQUID Matte collection also dry out my lips, usually, within 5-6 hours of wearing, although, they state the opposite. It’s worth your attention, the drying isn’t as active like from other liquid matte lipsticks that I’ve tried (L’Oreal, NYX, Lancome).
So, the lip booster from MUFE is a game-changer! It significantly eases the dryness and the coverage feels more comfortable with it.
The matte finish is delicate and the staying power is on fleek. That’s why I love and keep buying such lipsticks.
Besides, I also want to say a few things about the set too. The colors are great here and the combinations as well. These lipsticks fit the bill for different occasions and moods. And yeah, the Enchanted Book design is pleasant to lay my eye on. I guess I’ll keep it even when I use the lipsticks up. The idea is fantastic!
I bought this set a long time ago, I think at the end of the winter or so, but I can still find such sets available in stores.
The price for an item in the set is more profitable because the set traded for $28.
Yes, I do recommend you these ARTIST LIQUID Matte lipsticks and wish you beautiful smiles 💋
Thanks for your attention! 🙏❤
