Contouring my face isn’t something I’m very good at. I know powder contouring but I found out about cream contouring only now. So, my review is of the Master Contour V-Shape Contouring Duo Stick from Maybelline.
Master Contour V-Shape Contouring Duo Stick is a creamy textured stick that hosts two colors: light and dark.
It looks cute and the colors are nice. It reminds me of the Kinder Surprise with its milk and white chocolate.
If you want to get a true natural shadow effect on your face then you definitely need to opt for the #01 Light color.
This contour color is astonishing! A great mixture of gray and brown colors make it look like a natural shadow on the face and make the face features pop.
I know that many people scold the highlighter but I like it!
It isn’t the highlighter that shines all the time but it’s an illuminating creamy product. This very light shade helps to create the difference on a skin’s relief between the dark shade and skin tone to make the features more defined.
Consistency
The product becomes very soft and gentle once it touches the skin. I wouldn’t call it thick as proper blending will make the product disappear from my face completely. And this is probably the main downfall of it! It’s so fine to blend that I have to try hard to make the product still be visible on my face.
Before blending I usually apply the product in stripes over my skin and, you know, I apply a lot. Or sometimes I apply it over my powdered skin. And this way I think the highlighter and contour cling better to the skin and their color doesn’t fade while blending.
The dark shade I usually apply under my cheekbones, sides of the nose, hairline and chin
And the lighter shade goes on my cheekbones, bridge of the nose and chin
The result looks very natural and soft, if it’s possible to say so.
But unfortunately, the product has its downfalls as well:
1. Wear time. On my normal and tend to be oily skin it stays on for no more than 4 hours. Of course you can say that I need to apply some powder contouring over it, but my question is what for? Why should I bother with this stick then?
2. Small size. In the third picture you can the the full size of the product. If used daily, I guess it’ll go no longer than a month.
All in all the Master Contour V-Shape Contouring Duo Stick is a huge breakthrough among mass market cream contouring. The product has the right shades and stands out because of its simple blending. If you have normal or dry skin, then this product will be a find for you. As for the others, I presume it’ll be better to find your product among the dry powder contouring products.
