I’m a big sucker for Nars products, because I’m really pleased with most of the results.
Today it’s all about the hyped Nars Sheer Glow Foundation.
The idea of this foundation is to create a natural glowing finish. It appeared back in the day when totally matte skin was on trend. So now, when glowing skin is in favor and the brands produce a plethora of foundations with various glow effects, I find the Nars Sheer Glow to be just a nice product with a medium-thick coverage. There is nothing special or revolutionary about it nowadays.
It comes in a heavy glass bottle with a matte cap that can be stained easily. It doesn’t have any pump to it.
Volume: 30 ml.
Price point: $47
The shade Deauville:
It was a hassle to pick up the right shade, because all the shades have a hint of yellow to them.
The shade Light 4 Deauville is relatively neutral and not too light. It matches my fair skin with an slight and indistinct yellow undertone pretty well.
The texture is quite liquid and spreads out with my fingers and a damp sponge very well.
The coverage is medium yet builable. It doesn’t crease when layering. Also, you can apply it in a thin coat without looking streaky or patchy.
The effect on my skin
I applied it here in a lightweight layer with a damp sponge.
Full face (foundation, a little bit of powder, blush and bronzer):
My take on the product:
The foundation evens out my complexion very well. The coverage is a little bit dewy, so I prefer fixing it with a powder.
In my book, the shade doesn’t really adjust to my skin tone, so it’s essential to choose the right shade.
It wears on my dry skin so well, that I don’t even have to touch it up throughout the day. It neither sinks into my pores nor smoothes them out.
The glowy finish is moderate. It doesn’t make my skin overly shiny. As a result my skin looks supple and not flat. However, I cannot describe the effect as weighless and nude.
The Nars Sheer Glow Foundation is nothing extraordinary or unique yet I’m not underwhelmed by it.
The shade matched my skin tone really well. Moreover, I loved the natural-looking dewy finish and the nice feel while wearing.
I don’t have any gripes about this foundation except for a complicated color range. Therefore I give it 5 stars.
