A brow pomade is a relatively new product in the market. Well, I don’t mean that it’s “brand new”, no, but in comparison with brow pencils, powders, gels, etc. - pomade is the newest product for our eyebrows.
Of course I wanted to buy myself the hyped Anastasia Beverly Hills brow pomade, but since it was too risky to order online, provided that swatches don’t usually live up to the true color, I opted for this product by NYX.
So, today we’ll speak about the NYX Tame&Frame Tinted Brow Pomade in the color #04 Espresso.
The design of the product really combines geometry, because it has a round glossy cover top, while the basement is square, frosted-like and transparent. The quality of the plastic is something that I can be really picky about. It isn’t so awful, yet it seems rather flimsy for sure. The pot with the product was packed with a cardboard box.
COLORI’m a brunette, this is why I opted for the dark-brown shade which is called #04 Espresso - it’s a deep coffee shade, which doesn’t have any warm-toned red shade to it. The color is matte.
CONSISTENCYIt’s thick and creamy. It reminds me of a creamy eyeshadow consistency. BUT, once I touch it with a brush, the product becomes really CHUNKY!
THE PIGMENTATION is killer. You can easily overdo with the product. This is why it’s better to take up less with the brush.
Unfortunately here, the pomade decided to let me down and disappear once I touched it with my hat. Hence, I conclude that the product isn’t longwearing.
The first application of the pomade was perfect. The texture seemed to be new, pure and creamy. But later, the texture started to dry down, even though I always closed the pot very tightly and stored it upside down. Overtime, the line where I try to conceal my sparse brows with the product starts to look messy. The product sets very quickly and is pretty difficult to blend out afterwards.
My eyebrows are of average thickness, though the hairs don’t grow well and there are some visible sparse areas present. These sparse areas are actually the reason why I needed to buy this eyebrow pomade. I need to create a vision of naturally-looking hairs at places where I don’t have them with thin and beautiful strokes.

VERDICT: I can’t say that I absolutely hate this product. In my opinion brow pomades are perfect for those who don’t have eyebrows at all, for example when you over plucked them or you’re in the middle of the process of growing new hairs. This pomade will help you to “draw” new brows for sure. I’m really happy that I had a chance to give a try to this affordable product and I don’t regret buying it. Because in my case, I can easily use it as a creamy eyeshadow Choose wisely!
With love, yours Kate!
