Hi sweeties!

I received this foundation as a sample, along with many other products by NYX, so I’ll be writing a lot about them.

Price: $14

Volume: 13 ml.

Made in China

Shelf life after opening: 2 years

Product details:From sheer to full, your ideal coverage is just drops away with our new Total Control Drop Foundation! Fine-tune this velvety, matte foundation with the included dropper. Simply adjust the number of drops until you create the look you’re feelin’ today. Want more coverage? Add more drops! Buff expertly using the TOTAL CONTROL DROP FOUNDATION BRUSH for a seriously smooth finish.

The packaging is sleek and cute: the black cardboard box with a picture of the bottle on it.

Ingredients:

There is a stopper in the box so the bottle doesn’t shake.

The design is compact, very cute and harmonious. Frosted glass with glossy inscriptions looks pretty solid. That's just the glass but the black cap in particular show fingerprints.

The dispenser is in the form of a plastic pipette, from which you can squeeze the amount of the product that is necessary for you. I got used to dispenser pumps more, actually, but I find the pipette handy as well.

The formula is homogeneous. But in any case, I shake the bottle before use. Unusually liquid, slightly thicker than water, it spreads immediately once it’s on the face.

I have the shade № 06 VANILLA light beige with a yellowish undertone. Fortunately, it goes with my slightly tanned skin. There are 24 shades in the line, from porcelain to the color of bitter chocolate, so I think any girl will be able to find a suitable shade.

My skin is combination, with occasional flakes in the nose area and an oily nose and forehead. My pores are clean, but enlarged, and I do my best to shrink them. Freckles and the first signs of aging changes are also not particularly pleasing to the eye either.

Application. Brushes and sponges will simply soak it up, thereby dramatically increasing the consumption. That’s quite undesirable, especially if you remember about the volume of the product which is only 13 ml. As it turns out, the most optimal and economical way of distribution is with your fingers.

The coverage is easy to control. For a lightweight coverage, you need two drops of the foundation. But if your goal is to camouflage all the imperfections, you’ll need four drops or more. I don’t apply to much as I can not stand the feeling of something on my face plus I don’t seek to hide freckles or birthmarks etc.

Here comes its first and only flaw, which is significant enough, though. When I applied the foundation onto the clean skin, moisturized with daytime serum, I was disappointed with the result. The foundation settled into the enlarged pores, creating the illusion of white freckles. You can see that in the photo below.

Fortunately, this can be prevented by using a makeup base. I found my favorite one, namely - Holika Holika Sweet Cotton Pore Cover Base, and I’m on my third tube already. It always helps me out and makes my face smooth, even and perfect. I'm sure that there are similar makeup bases in the NYX range too. It changes everything! The pores are not erased, of course, but at least the foundation doesn’t treacherously accumulate in them. That’s not a total coverage, quite the contrary: the borders aren’t visible and my face looks pretty fresh.

The finish is matte and velvety. The cream is perfect for photoshoots and special occasions. It won’t shine in the photos. You can forget about blotting paper and powder for at least 4 hours. No face shine! The staying power is about 8-10 hours afterwards, it’s recommended to touch up your makeup.

Well, to say, the NYX TOTAL CONTROL DROP FOUNDATION has its own peculiarities, but I'm glad that I tamed it and I’m getting decent results with it.

This does not mean that you will also face the same difficulties. We are all different, remember this. But there is something I’m sure about: if your skin tends to flake, forget about this foundation, otherwise all the shortcomings will be noticeable, regardless of whether you moisturize your skin or not. But for those who have combination and oily skin, the product can be recommended. It doesn’t roll off the face even on the hottest day and reliably mattifies the oily areas.
