Pros: gorgeous finish, impossible to overdo, no orange hue, pretty shade
Cons: a little bit pricey, not suitable for tanned skin, quite light

Hey makeup devotees!

I’d like to share my experience with my first and probably not the last bronzer from the well-known Tarte.

In fact, I’ve been on the fence about bronzers for a really long time, because I just couldn’t get it. I thought it was just a tricky marketing ploy and no necessity for my collection. But…

I decided that I have to grab my hands on ONE too, after seeing it in every makeup-tutorial of every girl (and boy). They applied a bronzer to their faces sometimes even without a contouring product or a blush.

So, I decided to ‘think big’ and try a high-end bronzer right away. I picked up the Tarte bronzer for two reasons:

  1. Everyone was raving about it on Youtube.

  2. I loved the color in a swatch.

So, details:

The packaging is so tempting and adorable! It comes in a compact made of bronze PU-leather looking like a reptile and a magnetic closure. It’s incredibly beautiful and I want to touch it over and over again Smile

Inside there is a small and quality mirror that is good for touch-ups on the go when you don’t have anything else at hand.

The product comes in a big round refill that has the same embossment as the packaging.

We get 9 g of the product for $30, which is a steal, because it goes a really long way.

This bronzer is finely-milled and buttery to the touch. It doesn’t have any glistening particles or cheap-looking shimmer. The only complaint I have about it is that it’s pressed too tightly! On the one hand, it’s a good thing, because this bronzer is absolutely not dusty. But on the other hand, it’s a pain in my neck to pick it up with a brush. I have to dab the brush for a while to get the required amount. I use a fluffy and medium-thick powder tool for this purpose. I guess that a more flexible and tighter brush would probably perform better here.

In term of the pigmentation, I have mixed feelings about it. The bronzer is not richly pigmented and it ensures probably a semi-sheer bronze-golden coverage than a pronounced pigment as in, for ex., blushes or contouring products.

It’s rather an advantage for me, because I’m neither fair-skinned nor tanned. So, it’s a very good bronzer for light skinned girls. As for the warmer skin, I guess, this product will be of no use.The only thing you may get is a slight satin glow on your skin without any sun kissed effects.

Swatches and application

This is how it looks when picked up with my fingers generously. It’s an amazing and gentle color without any hint of orange.

And this is how it looks on my face applied to my cheekbones. I’m pleased with the results. No orange stains or big shimmering particles are to be seen. There is only a warm touch on my skin.

By the way, I prefer applying this bronzer before further layering. The contouring products and blushes blend out like a dream on it then!

I’m totally pleased with this product. This bronzer is easy and nice to use. The packaging alone makes me squeal!

But again, I wouldn’t recommend it to girls with tanned or very warm skin tone, because the results won’t be impressive. Other than that, I sincerely recommend you (especially newbies) test it!

Happy shopping and have a good mood!

Thanks for reading! Smile
