Hi Lovelies!
Recently Tarte launched a new foundation. It’s Shape Tape available in two versions: Matte and Hydrating.
Some people claimed that the latter was absolutely the same as the Tarte Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation in a jar.
I have this one too, so I couldn’t help but compare them.
Today I’d like talk about the Tarte Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation.
The design is classy for the brand. It comes in a purple outer package. Inside there is a bottle made of heavy matte glass with a plastic cap.
Size: 30 ml.
Country: USA.
Use within 12 months after opening.
The formula is creamy, a tad too thick and the same as with the Tarte Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation.
Even the smell is identical.
Ingredients:
This foundation has medium-thick coverage that can be layered. It applies and spreads out with a beauty sponge, fingers or tightly packed brush the best. It doesn’t accentuate my pores or flakey bits.
The finish is satin and slightly dewy.
On the bright side, it has a doe foot applicator as opposed to the Tarte foundation in a jar.
It’s huge yet very helpful.
However, it doesn’t pick up the the right amount of the product. It’s always not enough for a single use.
Hands down, the bottle with an applicator is a more convenient and sanitary way to use a foundation, but a pump would be preferable.
Tarte has a nice color range. Initially I thought that Fair-Light Neutral would be my color, but Fair Beige suited me really well too!
Fair Beige is a pretty light shade with a yellow undertone. It compliments fair-skinned girls and those with a slight tan.
It applies and blends out effortlessly. For me, a damp beauty sponge is of great help here.
The foundation is a little bit tacky and has a dewy finish immediately after application, but in about 5 minutes it sets and stops being tacky.
According to the finish and my feel, I would recommend it to girls with normal to dry skin.
I have normal skin that is prone to getting oily in my T-zone.
That’s how it looks without makeup:
The main issue I have about it is an uneven skin tone and blackheads. This foundation does a good job here!
My pores look alright even without a makeup base or primer!
The
Tarte Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation in a jar wears till makeup removal on me and gives a slight oily sheen in my T-zone only in the afternoon, but this option gets oily around my nose in about just 3-4 hours, even though I have a powder on.
Total look:
For my T-zone I used the Make Up For Ever HD powder. For the rest of my face I used the powder from the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette.
And here is an Instagram look:
All in all, this foundation pleased me! When I wear it, however, I always have a feeling that I have the Tarte Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation on. They are so much alike.
So, I dare to say that it’s one and the same product but in a more convenient packaging this time.
It looks really well on my skin and ensures quite a photoshop effect.
The only difference with the foundation in a jar is that it gets oily a little quicker. Nevertheless it’s not a deal-breaker for me, because I always have a powder or mattifying tissues at hand.
