Pros: convenient brush and cap, even coating, wide range of colors

Here’s my small collection of OPI nail lacquers. It’s a rare occasion that somebody doesn’t like them.

I read a lot of reviews where girls said some bad things about these nail lacquers. And to stand up for my favorite lacquers, I want to say that: there a lot of beauty parlours that work only with these nail polishes, do you know why? Because they apply them in the right way. Before the nail lacquer application, you should follow some technique steps:

1. the nail must be de-greased

2. apply base coating

3. first layer of the nail lacquer

4. second layer

5. top coat

6. seal the tips

If you follow this technique, then your nail lacquer will stay for a long time without chips or stains of the nail plate.

Moreover, you should bare in mind that there are some whimsical colors. You can’t apply the sheer lacquer in two layers, otherwise it’ll lose its gloss and shine. The metallics are usually streaky because of the brush traces. White or semi white colors will always look patchy and badly pigmented. And of course it’ll take time for them to dry. The thinner the layer, the faster the nail lacquer coat will wear off, but at the same time, if you apply a thicker layer, you are at risk to end up with a cracked and chipped mani. And so on and so on.

To avoid your nail polishes to dry out in the bottle, you should always wipe the excess from the bottleneck after each use! Otherwise, air gets into the bottle and the lacquer inside gets thicker. And a few years ago, before I knew this life hack, I lost some of my precious lacquers just because the cap was impossible to open as the lacquer had become thick and stuck to the cap forever.

And, I also want to draw your attention to the fact that the staying power of the lacquer says nothing about its quality. There are some lacquers which cost a cent with the staying power of 5 days. But I’m sure that they have their staying power only because of the harmful ingredients. All the OPI lacquers are formaldehyde, toluol and dibutylphthalate free. All their lacquers have a rather rough brush of a right size, which is very convenient to use will not stain the cuticle. I find it easy to paint narrow as well as a wide nail plate with it.
